Froggy Circle Shaker Card

Hi everyone! :o)

Today I want to share with you Froggy Circle Shaker Card I made for my niece's Tea 6th birthday.

I wanted to make something colorful and fun for Tea. I decided to make circle shaped shaker card. This is my first circle shaped shaker card and I was very satisfied with it. :o)

How I made this card...

First I cut all circles I needed. Here are the measurements:
  • card base: 3 3/4" x 2
  • border: outside 3 3/4", inside 3 1/4"
  • acetate: 3 10/16"

To make a card base, I glued two circles together on top.

Then I glued acetate circle on a borer, which I cut out from designer paper from lovely Create a Smile 'Beach Party' kit.

For shaker elements I used Pretty Pink Posh sequins from the kit. Lovely colors, but there was green color missing in my shaker mix. I used designer paper from the kit and cut and punched out circles from it. I mixed all elements together (paper circles and sequins) and assembled the card.

Next up was an image. I used an adorable froggy from Paper Smooches 'A Little Lovin' stamp set.

"Frogs are symbols of prosperity, wealth, friendship, and abundance in many cultures. In other cultures they symbolize fertility. In the Native American culture of the Southwestern United States, the frog carries a piece of wood in its mouth because the Mojave people believe frogs brought fire to humans. For the ancient Romans, the frog was believed to bring good luck to one's home. Native Aborigines of Australia believe that frogs brought the thunder and rain. Frogs are said to be effective in speeding up recovery from disease. Among the ancient Egyptians and Greeks, frogs symbolized inspiration and fertility. In ancient Egypt, Hekt, the frog goddess, protected newborn babies, hence frogs were symbols of fertility and birth. The frog is also said to attract true friends and to help find long-lasting love."

I stamped the froggy on a watercolor paper and colored it in watercolor technique using Distress Inks. After drying, I fussy cut it and colored edges with black marker.

Watercolor paper I use is not so thick and it doesn't work good with 3-D foams. I stamped one more froggy on a scrap of white cardstock paper and fussy cut it out, leaving white border around it. I glued colored froggy over uncolored one and my image was thick enough to work well with 3-D foams. :o)

I glued the froggy on the card and the card was almost finished.

Inside the card, I glued alphabet stickers and the card was ready to be sent to my sweetie. :o)
