Panda Birthday Girl Card II (KBD Aloha Friday Challenge #98)

Happy Friday! :o)

Today a new Aloha Friday Challenge starts at Kitty Bee Designs.

The challenge for this fortnight is #98 - Girly Cards.

And here's my take on the challenge: Panda Birthday Girl Card II.

I made this card for my landlords' daughter who's 9th birthday is today. She loved last year's card I gave her (find card here), so I decided to go with panda this year too. I went with same color scheme (pink+black+white), CAS design, different panda image and different layout. For the layout I decided to CASE my own card (find card here).

I used super cute 'Panda Love' from 2013 January Panda Releases. These Pandas are melting my heart. Love them all!! :o)

I printed the Panda on a white cardstock paper, stamped circles around Panda's eyes and colored them with black pen, as well as Panda's muzzle. Super fast and simple coloring. I fussy cut Panda and traced edges with black marker.

I stamped a bow on a piece of designer paper, fussy cut it, traced edges with black marker and glued it on Panda's head.

Then I colored chipboard speech bubble with Black Soot Distress Ink and edges with black marker. I left it dry on air couple of hours. After drying, I heat embossed in white number 9 on the chipboard.

I cut out two banners, one from designer paper and other from black cardstock paper.

Lastly, I assembled all pieces together. I glued some foam on banners and Panda and glued them on a white top folded card base. I glued the chipboard speech bubble directly on the card base. As a finishing touch, I embellished the card with pink enamel dots. :o)

Masculine Snake Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this CAS (clean and simple), Masculine Snake Card.

To make this card, I used stamps from three Jane's Doodles stamp sets. Super fun snake is from 'Smile' stamp set, sentiment from 'Double Trouble' stamp set and tiny triangle from 'Cactus' stamp set.

I stamped the snake, sentiment and triangles on a Kraft cardstock paper panel. I colored the snake and triangles with TOZ Artist Color colored pencils. These pencils are great. Love them!! :o)

I colored snake's eyes and teeth with white gel pen. To add more interest to my card, I outlined images and sentiment with white pencil. Lastly, I glued the panel on a white side folded card base and my card was finished. :o)

Hang in There Card (Kitty Bee Designs Spotlight)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Kitty Bee Designs and I made this Hang in There Card. :o)

For my today's card I used an ADORABLE Kitty Bee Designs 'Hanging Around' digital image.

I printed the image on a Kraft cardstock paper panel and left it dry couple hours to prevent ink smearing while coloring.

I colored the image with TOZ Artist Color colored pencils and used white gel pen to color bees' wings.

I stamped a sentiment from Gerda Steiner Designs 'Happy Fall with Squirrel' stamp set directly on the Kraft panel, glued the panel on a slightly larger dark brown cardstock paper panel, then glued them on a white top folded card base and my card was finished. :o)

B&W Birthday Clown Card (LMMS Challenge #166)

Hi everyone! :o)

Today a new challenge starts at Little Miss Muffet Stamps Challenge Blog. It's #166, Anything Goes Challenge.


For this challenge I made this monochrome, Black & White, Birthday Clown Card. :o)

For my card I used LMM's Forgotten Scraps 'Polka Dot Pals Lark' digital stamp.

I liked a lot black & white color combination I achieved on a card I created for our previous challenge, B&W Birthday Balloons Card, so I decided to go with B&W color combo on today's card too.

I printed the clown on a watercolor paper and left it aside for couple days. I colored a background and clown in watercolor technique using Distress Ink Black Soot. I wanted the background darker than clown, so I used black aquarel colored pencil and watercolored the background with it.

After I dried the panel, I covered the clown with paper towel scraps and splattered the panel with white Acrylic Paint mixed with water. I left the panel dry on air. After drying, I glued the panel on a top folded white card base, added white highlights (dots) on flowers and buttons on clown's outfit with a white gel pen and my card was finished.

I'm so glad it finally arrived. As I mentioned a week ago, last Friday I started working on my summer job. It's fine, I just have to get use to getting up really early, to be exact, at 4:30 AM. :o) I could get up a bit later, but I want to enjoy my morning coffee in peace and listening only birds singing. Oh it's so beautiful. :o) This weekend is my weekend off. My plans: sleeping, resting, crafting. I hope the weather will be good to go swim somewhere also. :o)

Origami Paper Cranes (Fairy Tale Challenge #171)

Hi everyone! :o)

It's time for a new challenge over at Fairy Tale Challenge Blog.

Our theme for this fortnight next 4 weeks is #171, Hobby. The theme is so versatile. You can create something from your favorite hobby (crochet, knit, origami...) or use an image that represents hobby/hobbies on your projects such as cards, albums, layouts etc.

Update (June 27th 2017)
Our DT decided to take a short summer break, so we're extending this challenge for two more weeks. The challenge will last for 4 weeks (ends July 17th 2017). :o)

This time our lucky winner will win this lovely window die-cut.

For this challenge I went with one of my hobbies, ORIGAMI, and folded these Origami Paper Cranes.

"Cranes are associated with long life, health, happiness, wisdom, and good luck. In Asian culture, a white crane can travel to the heavens and is sometimes called "heavenly" or "blessed." In China, cranes flew the gods to the "Isle of the Immortals," the legendary home of the eight immortals. Crane eggs were also used in magic potions to grant eternal life. 

Cranes are often regarded as messengers of the gods. An ancient Egyptian legend tells of a two-headed crane seen flying over the Nile to announce the start of a joyful and prosperous new season.

Cranes are masters at killing snakes. In Christian symbolism, cranes are seen as natural enemies of Satan. Due to their long migration season, they also became a symbol of endurance and their wings were once used as talismans to aide weary travelers. The spring return of cranes is a symbol of Christ's resurrection.

In Roman mythology, the crane was sacred to Demeter, the mother goddess. Demeter was said to renew the earth each spring when her daughter, Persephone, was released from the underworld."

In Japan, the crane is a symbol of long-life, happiness, good luck and peace. Paper Cranes became a symbol of healing Japan (find out more in National Geographic article).

Origami Paper Cranes are easy to fold. There are minimum requirements to make them: square paper and your hands. :o) You can find a diagram how to fold Origami Paper Crane here.

I used beautiful Origami Paper I had in my stash. I trimmed one paper to fold slightly smaller crane. :o)

Motivation Magnet (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this Motivation Magnet.

I made this magnet for my friend and school colleague, as a gift for the school year end.

I love a magnet I created a couple months ago (find it here) and decided to CASE it. I went with same design, layout and created a sky scene around the sentiment/quote. As a central part of my magnets, I hand lettered the quotation of Croatian writer Ivana Brlić Mažuranić on the original, while on today's magnet, I used a beautiful Jane's Doodles big bold sentiment from 'You Got This' stamp set.

How I made the magnet...

I cut a 3" x 3" base from a Canson XL Mixed Media Paper.

I stamped the sentiment from Jane's Doodles 'You Got This' stamp set on the base and after couple minutes of ink drying, Sun and clouds from adorable Jane's Doodles 'Home Sweet Home' stamp set.

My favorite coloring technique is watercoloring. Like on my CASEd magnet, I step out of my comfort zone and loosely watercolored the sky scene. I struggled because I like everything colored neat, but less than a first time. LOL

I cut a magnet square with adhesive on one side, nearly same size as colored base and glued them together.

Lastly, I pressed the magnet with a 32 cm x 32 cm, 1 cm thick glass plate and left it pressed for an hour. When I glue together two different surfaces, like in this case, paper and magnet, I always press my projects.

B&W Birthday Balloons Card (LMMS Challenge #165)

Hi everyone! :o)

I hope you're all great and having a great week. It's been quiet couple days here on my blog. I had to take a short break from blogging, to enjoy last week of this school year, spend some quality time with my friends and in my garden, as well to work on my DT and GDT projects. :o)

School year ended yesterday here in Croatia, as well as my Math & Physics Teacher contract for school year 2016/2017. It was a wonderful time and I hope I'll have luck to return back in September. Tomorrow my summer job starts. I hope it will be a lovely summer. :o)


Today a new challenge starts at Little Miss Muffet Stamps Challenge Blog. Like always, it's #165, Anything Goes Challenge.


For this challenge I made this monochrome, Black & White, Birthday Balloons Card. :o)

For my card I used LMM's Forgotten Scraps 'Celebrate Balloons' rubber stamp, that is now available as digital image. This is the 7th card I made using the 'Celebrate Balloons' rubber stamp, my most used and my FAVORITE rubber stamp. :o) You can find my previous cards using this stamp here, here, here, here, here and here. :o)

I went with simple design and same layout as on my previous cards using this stamp, but this time I wanted something less cute and colorful. Inspired with Tim's Burton work, Neil's Gaiman Sandman and Black & White photographs (which are my favorite photographs), I went with B&W effect on my card.

I stamped the image on a watercolor paper and colored it in watercolor technique using Distress Ink Black Soot. My first idea was to color only the image, but as I was coloring, I decided to watercolor whole background with same color. When I was satisfied with colors, I covered the image with paper towel scraps and splattered the panel with Distress Ink Black Soot. I dried the panel, glued it on a top folded white card base, highlighted highlights on balloons and highlighted stars with a white gel pen and my card was finished.

I'm very satisfied with my coloring and monochrome look I achieved using only one color. There will be more B&W colored projects from me in future, I'm sure. :o)
