Yellow Hibiscuses Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Happy Friday! :o)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this Yellow Hibiscuses Card:o)

For my card I used stamps from two Jane's Doodles stamp sets: 'Hibiscus' and 'All Occasions'.

I really love how my Hibiscus Card from our last blog hop turned out and just had to CASE it (Copy And Share Everything). This time I used one more hibiscus flower stamp from the set and went with different color scheme.

How I made my card...

With some masking, I stamped gorgeous hibiscus flowers on a white watercolor paper. I made masks of all hibiscus flowers from the set when I received it and stored them to use them in my future projects.

I colored gaps among flowers with black marker. Then I watercolored hibiscus flowers in watercolor technique using Distress Inks.

After drying, I glued the panel on a black top folded card base and drew white highlights on flowers with a white pigment ink.

Lastly, I heat embossed in white on a black cardstock paper a sentiment 'Thank You', cut the stripe to a desirable size, added some foam on the sentiment stripe and glued it on the card. :o)

Aloha Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Happy Friday! :o)

Yesterday was my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this Aloha Card:o)  I had some Internet connection issues and could not post this yesterday.

To make this card I used stamps from a GORGEOUS Jane's Doodles 'Hibiscus' stamp set.

How I made my card...

With some masking, I stamped gorgeous hibiscus flowers on a white watercolor paper. I made masks when I received the set and stored them for my future projects. So handy. :o)

I colored gaps among flowers with black marker. Then I watercolored hibiscus flowers in watercolor technique using Distress Inks. At the end I smeared one flower. Awful!!!

My first idea was to recreate a card I created for our latest blog hop (here), but with smearing that was impossible. I didn't want to throw away everything, so I tried something different. I fussy cut hibiscus flowers and cut away smeared portion. Using kraft knife, I cut out gaps between flowers (I previously colored them in black).

After fussy cutting, I traced edges with a black marker, glued some foam on the back of the hibiscus flower cluster and glued it on a white square card base, on which I previously stamped a sentiment. I glued a white cardstock panel inside the card to make it a bit sturdier.

As a finishing touch I drew white highlights and dots on flowers with a white pigment ink. :o)

Card dimensions: 95 mm x 95 mm (3 3/4" x 3 3/4")

  • Jane's Doodles 'Hibiscus' stamp set

Jane's Doodles Spotlight Blog Hop

Hello everyone!! :o)

Welcome to a Jane's Doodles Spotlight Blog HopToday we are featuring FIVE new stamp sets released into the store. FIVE!!! :o)

Aren't they GORGEOUS!! Love them all! :o)

For today I prepared two cards featuring three new sets. :o)

My first card for today is this You're an Angel Card using stamps from super adorable 'Angels' stamp set. :o)

I inked a white cardstock paper panel with Distress Ink Blueprint Sketch. I inked it directly with ink cube and left it dry for couple hours. After drying, I trimmed the panel a bit, just to make it smaller than a card base. I heat embossed in white a sentiment and drew white dots and stars with white pigment ink on the panel and glued it on a white side folded card base.

Next up was an angel. I stamped the angel on a watercolor paper and colored her in watercolor technique using Distress Inks. After drying, I fussy cut the angel and traced edges with a black marker. To make the image thicker, as I use think watercolor paper, I stamped another angel on the white cardstock paper, fussy cut the angel, traced edges with black marker and glued colored angel over it. I glued some foam on the back of the angel, glued the angel on card and my card was finished. :o)

Second card I created for today is this Thank You Card using 'Hibiscus' and 'All Occasions' stamp sets.

With some masking, I stamped gorgeous hibiscus flowers on a white watercolor paper. I stored masks to use them in my future projects.

I love how my card turned out and will definitely make more cards like this one using other Jane's gorgeous flowers. And there are so many... :o)

These would be my cards for today. At the bottom of this post you can find card measurements and detailed supply lists for my both cards. Link to this post will be in a right sidebar (Featured Post), until the Blog Hop ends. :o)
