Tiger Lilies Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Hi everyone! :o)

On Tuesday, May 15th, was my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this Tiger Lilies Card. :o)

This card is a CASE of a card I made for my mom and shared it two weeks ago (find it here). I went with same design, layout and used same stamps, but went with different color scheme and used different techniques and mediums for coloring. :o)

Mom of a lovely young lady, for whom I created this card, loves orange color. I immediately knew I should go with Tiger Lilies. Gorgeous flower! :o)


How I made the card...

For my card I used stamps from two GORGEOUS Jane's Doodles stamp sets: Lily and Mother's Day.

 

With some masking, I stamped lilies directly on a white top folded card base.

I colored lilies with various coloring mediums. First I blended Distress Ink. I used negative part of masks to protect white background and ink blended lilies. I splattered lilies with water, dried them and repeated the process one more time.

I removed masks, added extra shades on lilies and colored green parts with colored pencils and fine liners. Dimension was missing, so I colored shades using grey colored pencil.

Then I heat embossed in black word ‘Mama’, which is Croatian for mom.

Lastly, I drew brown dots on lilies using fine liner and added some white highlights with white gel pen and the card was finished. :o)

Card and Tag for my Mom (Paru's Card Making Challenges May 2018 GDT)

I was delighted to be asked to be a Guest Designer at Paru's Card Making Challenges for this month, after I won in her March 2018 challenge. :o)

Theme for this month is Mother's Day. Wonderful theme!!

And here is my take on the challenge: Card and Tag for my Mom. :o)

I’ll send these to her as soon as possible to receive them prior Mother’s  Day, which is annually held here in Croatia on the second Sunday of May, as in the most parts of the World.


How I made my card and tag...

To make these two, I used stamps from two Jane's Doodles stamp sets: 'Lily' and 'Mother's Day'.

With some masking, I stamped lilies on a watercolor paper panel and colored them in watercolor technique using Distress Inks. After drying, I added some shades onto petals with colored pencils. 

Then I heat embossed in black word ‘Mama’, which is Croatian for mom.

I glued the panel on a card base, added some white dots and highlights with white gel pen and my card was finished. :o)

Next up was the tag. I don’t make tags often, so this was quite a challenge for me. The simplest way to deal with this challenge was to go with same design as on the card. I did everything same as on the  card, just skipped heat embossing.

After coloring and drying, I cut the tag shape on my die-cutting machine, punched a hole in a tag, added some ribbon and my tag was finished. :o)

Tag dimensions: 36 mm x 59 mm (1 7/16" x 2 5/16")

Mother's Day

Hi everyone! :o)

It's Mother's Day today in Croatia and I want to share with you a card I made for my mom for the occasion.

♥ My mom's name is Ruža (translated to English: Rose), her favorite color is violet and she loves flowers, especially roses. She also likes blue color. Combined everything together, I made this card for her. ♥

To make this card I was inspired with two gorgeous cards. Thanks for the inspiration Ladies! :o)

I blended Distress Inks directly on a white top folded card base, splattered the card with water and Distress Inks mixed with water.

When I was satisfied with colors and splatters, I glued a white die-cut rose over blended colors. I got this one and many many more from friend Valentina of Barvito malo mesto. Thank you Valentina!! :o)

As a finishing touch, I coated rose die-cut with Clear Wink of Stella. Unfortunately, the weather this week was awful and I couldn't catch the shimmer on photos.

Mama volim te (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Hi everyone :o)

Today was my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles. My project for today is a card I made for my Mom for Mother's Day. She loves violet color and butterflies, so do I. :o) Inspired with mixed media project I made two months ago, I made this card for her.

I used gorgeous Jane's Doodles stamp set, Butterflies. I love this stamp set so much and I use it a lot! :o)

I used Note Sheet patterned paper as a background/panel, colored it with different inks and when I was satisfied with the color, I stamped butterflies on the panel colored them with different mediums and added white highlights with white pen.

Then I masked butterflies, stamped more butterflies with white chalk ink and splattered panel with white acrylic paint. White splatters were pale, so I used white pen to accent them and I drew some extra dots with it. :o)

I used découpage glue and varnish due crafting process to fix colors.

I wrote a sentiment on computer (MS Word, text box tool). It's on Croatian and says: Mom I Love You. 

After printing, I cut out sentiment in to three pieces, drew frames with white pen and glued them on the panel. I glued the panel on a white cardstock base, rounded corners and my card was finished.
