World Space Week Blog Hop (WSW day 1)

Hello everyone!! :o)

Welcome to a special annual (and first) blog hop: World Space Week Blog Hop. :o)

I've invited some of my crafty friends whom I admire greatly to hop along with me, and I have some amazing sponsors lined up with gifts to give away to You! :o)

Aim of the hop is to celebrate World Space Week (WSW)an international celebration of science and technology, and their contribution to the betterment of the human condition. The UN declared in 1999 that WSW will be held each year from October 4 – October 10

"These dates commemorate two events:
October 4, 1957: Launch of the first human-made Earth satellite, Sputnik 1, thus opening the way for space exploration
October 10, 1967: The signing of the Treaty on Principles Governing the Activites of States in the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies."

Find out more about WSW on the official WSW page.

Our other aims are to inform other crafters and visitors of our blogs about WSW, to share some inspiration with our space themed projects and to encourage You to create Space themed projects, and most important, to HAVE FUN. :o)

EACH year WSW has different theme to celebrate and this year's theme is Space Unites the World.

Previous two years, I've organized various activities for students in a school I worked at. This year, I'm celebrating here on my blog with my crafty friends and You. :o)

This blog hop is a part of WSW 2018 celebration and is listed as an event on an official WSW 2018 event list: event ID 19673 (here).

PRIVACY NOTICE
No personal data from this blog hop and giveaway will be shared on official WSW 2018 event list neither shared with any other party.

Theme of our today's blog hop is SPACE. I've created couple Space themed cards, but won't share them all today. I'll share them through this WSW week here on my blog. For today's hop I've choose this one: Say Yes to New Adventures Card. :o)

I totally agree with a sentiment. :o)

For my card I used stamps from two Jane's Doodles stamp sets: an image from 'To The Moon' stamp set and the sentiment from 'Happy Camper' stamp set.

I was inspired with my first Galaxy Star Background card I made last month (if you like, you can find it here).

How I made my card...

I colored a background in watercolor technique using Distress Inks Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch and Black Soot. I used thick watercolor paper for it. When I was satisfied with the color, I blended edges with Black Soot Distress Ink to get more dramatic look.

After drying, I heat embossed in white the sentiment directly on the colored panel. Then I splattered the panel with white tempera color mixed with water. I smeared a bit of the white tempera color here and there where I wanted to get lighter parts of the Galaxy Sky. After drying, I glued the panel on a black side folded card base and drew couple shiny stars with white pigment ink and white gel pen.

Next up was a rocket. I stamped the rocket on a watercolor paper and colored it in watercolor technique using Distress Inks. I decided to use same colors for my rocket as for my galaxy. I was a bit afraid at the begining, how will it look, but I love this "monochromatic" look in the middle.

After drying, I fussy cut the rocket and traced edges with a black marker. To make the image thicker (the watercolor paper I used for the image is thinner than the paper I used for the background) I stamped another rocket on a white cardstock paper scrap, fussy cut it, traced edges with black marker and glued the colored rocket over it.

I glued some foam on the back of the rocket, glued it on the card base, added some white highlights and my card was finished. :o)

I really like how my card turned out. :o) Check that tiny heart above the sentiment... That's a splatter!!! :o)

At the bottom of this post you can find card measurements and detailed supply list for my today's card.

Moon and Stars Card III (LMMS Inspiration)

    Hi everyone! :o)

It's Little Miss Muffet Stamps Inspiration Week and I made this CAS (clean and simple),  one layer, Moon and Stars Card. :o)

For my card I used beautiful LMM's Forgotten Scraps 'Second Star to the Right Sentiment' digital stamp. This is my third take on this digi. You can find my previous cards here and here.

I had the image printed on a cardstock paper panel for some time. I masked the Moon and sentiment with post-it paper and blended the panel with Distress Inks. I splattered the panel with water, dried it, blended colors again, splattered with water and repeated the process several times. When I was satisfied with the panel color, I splattered the panel with Distress Ink Black Soot and dried it with Heat It Tool.

I removed masks and watercolored the Moon with Distress Ink Faded Jeans. I used a little water for coloring, as the cardstock paper isn't fan of water.

I glued the panel on a white top folded card base, coated the Moon, sentiment and stars with clear Wink of Stella and my card was finished. :o)

    Card dimensions: 89 mm x 121 mm (3 1/2" x 4 3/4")
