You Rock Card (Kitty Bee Designs Spotlight)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone! :o)

This is my 700th blog post!! :o)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Kitty Bee Designs and I made this CAS (clean and simple), You Rock Card. :o)

For my card I used a SUPER CUTE Kitty Bee Designs 'iPod Panda' digital image. Isn't he ADORABLE!!! :o) My panda is a he on this card, as it will be a card for a boy. :o)

How I made my card....

First I made a layout on my computer. Then I printed the panda three times: one on a watercolor paper, second on a white cardstock paper scrap and third directly on a cardstock paper panel. I left images to dry over the night.

Next day, I prepared card base first. I stamped the sentiment on the panel, colored printed panda with black marker and glued the panel on a white top folded card base.

Then I fussy cut the panda printed on the cardstock scrap, colored him with black marker and traced edges with same marker.

Next up was the panda printed on the watercolor paper. I stamped tiny circles around panda's eyes and colored his eyes and muzzle with black fine liners. I colored the panda in watercolor technique using Stabilo Fibre Tip Pens (markers). These colors are so vivid and I particularly like blue tones I used to color my panda. :o)

After drying, I fussy cut the panda and traced edges with black marker. Then I drew white dots, highlights and faux stitches with white gel pen and white pigment ink. I got idea to drew stitches from an adorable tag shared over on Kitty Bee Designs blog. Find it here.

Three pandas ready to be glued together. :o)

I glued together two pandas: watercolored and black colored one. I did this to make the image thicker, as the watercolor paper I use is very thin.

Lastly, I glued 3-D foam squares on the back of the colored panda and glued him over the black panda on the card base and my card was finished. I love how I colored this panda. :o)

Card measurements: 92 mm x 127 m(3 5/8" x 5")

Birthday Zebra Card

Hi everyone! :o)

Today I want to share with you this CAS (clean and simple), monochrome, Birthday Zebra Card. :o)

I made this card for my friend Josip who's birthday is in next month.

To make this card I used stamps from two super cute Paper Smooches stamp sets and one stamp from Jane's Doodles. :o)

For my card layout I decided to go with one of my favorite CAS layouts. I've used it several times on my cards (here, here, here, here and here).

How I made this card...

I stamped a zebra from Paper Smooches 'Zoo Crew' stamp set on a watercolor paper and colored the zebra in watercolor technique using Distress Ink Hickory Smoke (maybe it would be better to call it watercolor shading...). After drying, I fussy cut the zebra and traced edges with black marker. Then I added tiny white dots into the zebra's eyes. I made a mistake and totally messed up zebra's "back" eye. It was unrecognizable. LOL

I didn't want to threw away whole image, instead, I cut away the messed eye, stamped the zebra again and colored only one eye, fussy cut it, traced edges... Problem solved. :o)

Then I stamped the zebra again on a white cardstock paper, colored the zebra with black marker and fussy cut the zebra leaving thin white border around the zebra. I softened watercolored parts on a soft working mat using stylus ball and glued parts over the "black" zebra. This adds a bit dimension to images.

Then I heat embossed in white a sentiment on a black cardstock paper and cut out a stripe. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches 'Sentiment Sampler' stamp set.

Before I glued the image and the sentiment stripe on a card base, I arranged elements to see how everything will look together (I always do that). The zebra was standing "in the air". Something was missing and I didn't like it. I needed an insert, black and white. As I don't have any matching patterned paper (I rarely buy patterned paper), I decided to make my own. I used a lines pattern stamp from Jane's Doodles 'Patterns' stamp set. I stamped stripes on a scrap of a white cardstock paper and cut out a stripe. I arranged elements again... better. :o)

I love dimension on my cards and I think it's a great solution for CAS cards. I glued two stripes together, glued 2 mm thick foam squares on the back of the stripe and glued it on a top folded white card base, glued 3 mm thick foam scraps on the zebra and placed her on the card.

As a finishing touch, I glued two black enamel dots on the card.

Birthday Monkey Card (Kitty Bee Designs Spotlight)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone! :o)

On Sunday, July 29th, was my turn to be on the spotlight over at Kitty Bee Designs and I made this CAS (clean and simple), Birthday Monkey Card. :o)

I didn't share this earlier here on my blog, as I spent last weekend with my family in Bilice near Šibenik. I didn't want to sit by the computer while with them and didn't manage to do that before the journey, so... :o) We celebrated two birthdays: my father celebrated his 60th and my partner his 39th. It was awesome family gathering. :o)

Back to the card...

I made this card for my friend's son Vid, who will celebrate his 4th birthday this month. :o)

For my card I used a SUPER CUTE Kitty Bee Designs 'Max the Monkey' digital image. :o)

I printed the monkey twice, one on a white cardstock paper and second on a watercolor paper. I left images dry through the night to prevent ink smearing while coloring.

I colored the monkey printed on cardstock paper with black marker and fussy cut the tiger. Then I colored the monkey printed on watercolor paper in watercolor technique using Distress Inks. After drying, I fussy cut the monkey, traced edges with black marker and glued the monkey over the "black" monkey. I did this to make the image thicker, as a watercolor paper I use is very thin and doesn't work well with 3-D foam.

Then I heat embossed in white a sentiment on a black cardstock paper. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches 'Sentiment Sampler' stamp set.

I decided to go with same design and layout as on two cards I shared here on my blog last year, here and here. Super simple, CAS as much as it can be, masculine with minimum colors and elements. :o)

Update September 22nd, 2018:
More inspiration.... Layout used also on cards made in the past, here and here. :o)

I glued 2 mm thick foam squares on the sentiment stripe and glued it on a top folded white card base, glued 3 mm thick foam scraps on the monkey and placed him on the card. As a finishing touch, I glued two brown enamel dots on the card.

Card dimensions: 89 mm x 121 m(3.5" x 4.75")

Cute Cow Card (Kitty Bee Designs Spotlight)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone! :o)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Kitty Bee Designs and I made this Cute Cow Card. :o)

For my card I used a super fun 'Kal-Bi Cow (Bee)' digital stamp digital image. So cute and fun!! :o) And there are more cute cow images in the store. :o)

I went with similar design as on my own card I made in January this year for KBD, Coffee Panda Card. :o)

I printed the cow on a watercolor paper and left the ink set through the night. Next day I colored the cow in watercolor technique using Distress Inks. After drying, I fussy cut the cow, traced edges with black marker and softened parts with a stylus ball on a soft working mat.

The watercolor paper I use is too thin, so I printed one more sow on a white cardstock paper, colored the cow with black marker, fussy cut her leaving white border around her and glued colored cow over the black one (paper piecing). Thicker. :o)

Then I stamped a sentiment from Paper Smooches 'Chubby Chums' stamp set on a side folded white card base and drew frame with a black fine liner. I glued some 3-D foam on the back of the cow, glued her on the card and my card was finished. :o)
