I'd cross an Ocean for You... Card

Hi everyone :o)

Yesterday was a World Card Making Day and I wanted to share a card with you, but due to the weather circumstances and me being very unsatisfied with photos I took, I'm sharing it today.

It's this I'd cross an Ocean for You... Card I made for my boyfriend, as our 9th anniversary will be soon. :o)

My card is a CASE of beautiful card made by Francine Vuillème of 1001 cartes. I love everything on that card!

Francine is a very talented and creative, pleasant and friendly Lady from Switzerland. I like her style a lot! Her simple design and stunning coloring blows me away every time she shares a new card.

And now, how I made my card...

First I made a background panel on a watercoloring paper in Ink smooshing technique. I used Stabilo markers, plastic pocket bag, sprayer bottle and water. I added some color on plastic pocket bag, sprayed it with water and smooshed color on the panel. I was adding color by color, couple of layers, drying them between. I don't have heat gun, so I use hairdryer for drying wet papers.

When I was satisfied with colors and pattern, I glued the panel on a same size white cardstock paper.

Then I stamped two submarine images from Create a Smile 'Underwater Love' stamp set. One on a piece of the white cardstock paper and one on the watercoloring paper.

Using Stabilo markers, I colored image stamped on the watercoloring paper in watercoloring technique. I learned that from a great video tutorial by Julia Altermann, how to watercolor using inexpensive Stabilo pens.

I fussy cut image after drying, colored edges with black pen and glued it over image stamped on the white cardstock paper. Then I fussy cut image, leaving white border around it.

Reasons I glued the watercoloring paper on the cardstock paper (both, image and panel) are:

• watercoloring paper I use is very thin,
• Stabilo markers give best results when used on the watercoloring paper,
• I needed thicker panel and image to complete my card.

Like Francine, I used vellum paper for a sentiment. First I teared a stripe of vellum paper and stamped the sentiment using Tsukineko Versa Magic Multi-surface Chalk Ink Cloud White. I left it dry for an hour.

After the stamped sentiment was dry, I assembled all pieces together. I placed the vellum on the panel and glued it behind, added 3-D foams on the backside of the panel and glued it to a white card base. I added 3-D foams behind the submarine, glued it on the card and embellished the card with enamel stickers. 

Card dimensions are 139 mm x 107 mm (5 1/2 x 4 1/4").
