Awesome Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Today was my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this CAS (clean and simple), Awesome Card.

For this card I used Jane's Doodles 'Cactus' stamp set, I love it so much!! :o)

How I made this card...

When I received the stamp set, first I stamped all images on paper scraps and fussy cut them out. I made these to use them as a help to arrange scenes and as masks. I store these with stamp set. :o)

For the image I went with masking and paper piecing.

I stamped a cactus pot on a white carstock paper panel using pre-made masks. I colored the pot with a black marker. I masked a sentiment from the set and stamped part of it on the panel.

Then I stamped the pot twice on a designer paper, stamped other part of the sentiment on one pot, fussy cut pieces I needed and colored their edges with black marker.

Before I decided what media will I use for coloring, I made a decision about the design of my card. I cut out a stripe of the designer paper, same I used for pot, and glued it on a top folded white cardstock card base. I also trimmed the panel to be narrower than the card base.

Next up was coloring. I colored plants with Distress Inks and super thin paint brush which I bought last week. It's great! :o)

I colored directly on the cardstock panel, so I had to add small amount of water while coloring to avoid cardstock getting too wet.

Next up was card assembling. I glued pot pieces together and glued them on the panel over the black pot. Then I cut  out a rectangle, slightly smaller than the panel, from 1 mm thick foam sheet. I glued the foam on the back of the panel, glued the panel on the card base and my card was finished. :o)
