Red Feathers Birthday Card (CASology Week #353)

Hi everyone! :o)

It's time for a new challenge at CASology. This fortnight's cue word is Feather. :o)

We also have a sponsor for this challenge: UNIKO. Find all details about the prize over at CASology blog.

And here is my take on the challenge: CAS (clean and simple), Red Feathers Birthday Card. :o)

Design defined:
Adding dimension gives CAS card special interest.

How I made my card....

To make my card I was inspired by a GORGEOUS card made by Donna Mikasa of three umbrellas. Fantastic design! :o) Thank you for the inspiration, Donna.

I used a sentiment from Jane's Doodles 'All Occasions' stamp set and a gorgeous Sizix feather die cut I got from a dear friend crafter, Alice of Scrap & CThank you so much, Alice!!!

I ink blended a Distress Ink Candied Apple on a white cardstock paper scrap. When I was satisfied with the color I splattered the paper with water, picked water with a paper towel and dried it with a heat tool. I repeated the process one more time.

Then I die cut 3 feathers from the blended paper. I heat embossed the sentiment in white on a black cardstcok paper and cut the sentiment stripe to a desirable size.

I masked a bottom part of a white top folded card base and splattered a Distress Ink Black Soot mixed with a bit of water directly on the card base. I dried splatters with the heat tool.

With all parts ready, I assembled the card. I wanted to create a dimension with feathers, so I curled them a bit with my fingers, added just a bit of glue in the center part of each die-cut feather and then glued them directly on the card base.

Lastly, I glued some 3-D foam on the sentiment stripe, glued it on the card base and my card was finished. :o)
