Happy Friday everyone! :o)
Today I'm sharing a mid-inspiration project for an ongoing Aloha Friday Challenge at Kitty Bee Designs.
Our sponsor for this challenge is Aurora Wings, whit an amazing prize for one lucky winner.
For this challenge I made this Tiger Lily Card, using our sponsor's gorgeous image 'Tiger Lily Sprite' Digital Stamp.
I printed the image on a watercolor paper. I left it dry through the night. When I print digital images I always leave them dry at least half an hour, to prevent ink smearing. I tried different mediums on printed images in the past and they all smear black printer ink, if not dried well. You can find more helpful tips on how to use digital images in one of my old posts, here.
Next day I colored the image. I colored sprite's skin and sepals with colored pencils. I used paper stump to blend colors in paper. Then I colored petals and stamens in watercolor technique using Distress Inks, water and fine rounded paint brush.
When I was finished with coloring I fussy cut the image and colored the edges with black marker.
And then my troubles started... I couldn't decide what to do with the image. Background, no background, clean or busy, splatters, sentiment, no sentiment... I liked it all, but there was so little black and it didn't meet the challenge, at leas tin my eyes. Well, now I have some great layouts and ideas I will definitely use very soon, with this or some other image. Lastly I went with black and white busy patterned paper. To do so, I was inspired with gorgeous card by Marika Gewalli of Craftybit Creations. :o)
I glued the image on the patterned paper, glued it on a white top folded square card base and my card was finished. :o)

Oh, this is FABULOUS!!! Love very much the contrast by the vibrant yellow/orange of the image and the black & white of the background! It makes the image really pop! And I think that the white script is so elegant! Very well done!!! :)

Milka, this is gorgeous!! Love your coloring on the Tiger Lily Sprite with rich golden orange hue. The fussy cut is amazing, too! Glad you settled on this design as your final choice, as it is totally bold with the contrast against the black, but the white writings soften the stark black and add a lot of interest. Thank you for joining our latest challenge at AWCB! And thanks for having me as a sponsor at Kitty Bee Designs! xx Mitzi/AuroraWings

Can I just tell you how stunning I think this is? I adore the way you colored that tiger lily so perfectly and just popped it on that black back drop!! It takes guts to leave something that clean and simple in a craft world full of all those beautifully embellished cards but this is just perfect!! I cannot tell you enough how much I love how that sprite pops off the background like that!!! I love it!!!!!
