I Love Math Challenge #11 + World Space Week (WSW day 4)

Hello everyone and welcome to a new I Love Math Challenge!

This is the eleventh challenge. If you're new to my blog and want to find more about the challenge and past challenges, you can find it here.

A theme for this challenge is picked by our dear NehaCRESCENT SHAPE.

crescent is "curved sickle shape of the waxing or waning moon."
Source: English Oxford Living Dictionaries (https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/crescent)

Find more definitions of word 'crescent' here and here.

As we are in World Space Week (WSW), here is a gorgeous photo of Crescent Earth and Moon downloaded from NASA's image gallery.

This picture of a crescent-shaped Earth and Moon  (the first of its kind ever taken by a spacecraft) was recorded September 18, 1977, by NASA Voyager 1 when it was 11.66 million kilometers (7.25 million miles) from Earth.

A very talented crafter/cardmaker from Sweden is joining us in this challenge. It's my dear friend Tina Pavlović of Kristina's Art Corner.

Tina is a supporter of the challenge and my dear friend. I love her unique style, coloring, whimsical and super creative creations (oh, you must check her interactive cards). I'm very happy that she accepted my invitation to be a Guest Designer for this challenge. Just wait to see what she created. :o)

Here is what Tina said:
'Hello everyone! I am Kristina from Kristina's Art corner. Welcome to a new I Love Math challenge. In this challenge(as you already know) , Milka combined two of her gratest passions: Math and Cardmaking! An amazing idea! When Milka asked me if I would be Guest Designer,  I could not say NO. Thank you so much Milka.
The Theme for this challenge is CRESCENT Shape and was chosen by Neha!
I have to admit that when I heard the theme I immediately had in my mind the idea for this card. What would fit better in this topic than Halloween project??'

And here is Tina's take on the challenge. LOVE!!! :o)

BOO-TIFUL!!! I love Tina's take on the challenge and her card. Just look at that gorgeous Moon and that super adorable bat. LOVE it! Jump over to Tina's blog and find all details about her card and detailed description on how she made it. :o)

And now inspiration from the team...

Here is Kaja's take on the challenge.

AMAZING!!! Kaja created gorgeous Christmas themed CAS card. Love the design and how everything is put together. Great take on the challenge and a great reminder to start making Christmas cardsJump over to Kaja's blog and find more details about her card. :o)

Here is Neha's take on the challenge.

ADORABLE!!! Beautiful design and color combination, lovely images, gorgeous background ... ♥ I love Neha's card and how she incorporated the challenge theme into her adorable card. Jump over to Neha's blog and find more details about her card. :o)

And here is my take on the challenge: Sagittarius Card. :o)

I made my card yesterday (WCMD). As it's WSW and I'm celebrating whole week, I went with kind of space themed card. :o)

To make my card I was inspired by a super cute card made by a very talented cardmaker, Anna Kossakovskaya of Love, Live, CreateAnna's card is AMAZING!!! I followed Anna's design, but made some differences. Anna's front base is crescent Moon and mine is whole scene (Moon and starry sky). Find Anna's card here.

How I made my card...

I cut out two 4" large circles from a white cardstock paper. Then I cut one circle to get a crescent shape. I cut out also a circle card base from the white cardstock paper and a circle from an acetate sheet.

blended crescent shape with Distress Inks Mustard Seed and Fossilized Amber. I splattered the shape with water and repeated the process one more time. I blended also a white cardstock paper scrap with same colors and splattered it. Then I cut out tiny stars using Lawn Fawn 'Starry Skies'.

Then I blended the full circle with Distress Inks Blueprint Sketch and Faded Jeans. I splattered the circle and repeated the process until I got the color I like.

With all my parts ready, I assembled the card. I glued the acetate sheet on the Moon (crescent shape) and glued tiny stars on the acetate. Then I glued 3-D foam on the back of the Moon and behind some stars, glued it on the blue ink blended circle and glued everything on the circle card base.

Next up was an image. I stamped an adorable Sagittarius from Mama Elephant 'Cosmic Stars' on a watercolor paper, drew him a belt and colored him in watercolor technique using Distress Inks. After drying, I fussy cut him, traced edges with black marker and softened the image on a soft working mat using stylus ball. I stamped another image on the white cardstock paper scrap, colored him in black and glued watercolored image over him. I did this (I always do) because I wanted to make the image thicker, as the watercolor paper I use is very thin.

Lastly, I glued some 3-D foam on the back of the Sagittarius, placed him on the Moon and my card was finished. Love it so much! :o)

Card measurements: d = 101 mm  (4")
