Mixed Media Blue Mandala Canvas

Hi everyone!!! :o)

Today I want to share with you this Mixed Media Blue Mandala Canvas. :o)

I made this one a while ago (in spring 2017), but I didn't share it anywhere yet because I forgot about it. It was a gift for my cousin for starting her new business (relaxing and massage center). She loved it. :o)

This month I've started making similar one for my friend and realized I never shared this one.


How I made this canvas...

To make the canvas, I used a GORGEOUS Create a Smile 'Mandala' cling stamp and a Devanāgarī Script stamp that I got from my dear friend Neha of Periwinkle Creations. :o)

I worked on a white stretched canvas.

I heat embossed the Mandala in white directly on the canvas. Using a brayer roller, I spread thick layer of acrylic paints (white and light blue) all over the canvas. Using a wet cloth, I removed paints from the Mandala, as it was not visible at all. The area was lightly painted blue, but all Mandala lines were visible.

After drying, I colored the Mandala with colored pencils.

I added more blue acrylic paint on the canvas corner and lightened the area around the Mandala with a white pigment ink pad. I left the canvas drying on air and repeated the process couple times until I was satisfied with the color.

I masked the Mandala with a paper towel and stamped whole background using the Devanāgarī Script stamp and the white pigment ink.

After drying, I mixed a white acrylic paint with a bit of water and splattered the whole background. I removed the mask from the Mandala and left the canvas drying on air for couple of hours.

Lastly, I traced Mandala's lines with a white gel pen and my canvas was finished. :o)

14th 30 Day Coloring Challenge Preview

Hi everyone!

I hope you are all well and enjoying winter holidays. :o)

Today I want to share with you what I've colored during Kathy's Racoosin 14th 30 Day Coloring Challenge.

I'm sure most of you heard about Kathy's Racoosin 30 day coloring challenge. If not, here is a brief introduction.

Kathy of The Daily Marker started super fun challenge 30 Day Coloring Challenge in March 2015 and organizes it couple of times a year. On November 1st the 14th challenge started and ended on November 30th. The goal of the challenge is to color something daily even if it's a few minutes. I've participated in each challenge since it started. I participated and colored when I had time, but managed to color every day in 6th, 7th and 12th challenge. In this 14th challenge I skipped coloring for nine days due to a very bad sinusitis and high fever, but I was thinking about coloring. :o)

During the last, 14th challenge, there were days I colored only couple of minutes and days I colored for hours. I enjoyed a lot. :o)

I shared my daily coloring's on my Instagram account as the challenge was going on.

Toucan Card (CASology Week #358)

Hi everyone! :o)

This Tuesday, December 17th, 2019, a new challenge started at CASology. This fortnight's cue word is Branch. :o)

I didn't have time to write blog post on time, but there's still time to join the challenge, which ends on Monday, January 6th, 2020, 9 AM, CST (UTC -6).

And here is my take on the challenge: CAS (clean and simple), one layer, Toucan Card. :o)

Design defined: 

One layer card is great in CAS design.

How I made my card....

To make this card I used super cute toucan from Craftin Desert Divas 'Flew By' 2 x 3 stamp set. Sadly, the shop is closed and the set is not available anymore.

I made this card during Kathy's Racoosin 13th 30 day coloring challenge (in July 2019), but I didn't shared a card anywhere yet, just a sneak peek in a preview post of all my coloring during the challenge (here). At that time I received an invitation to join the CASology Design Team and I worked in advance for our's current challenge theme. :o)

I stamped the toucan and a sentiment directly on a top folded Kraft paper card base.

I colored the toucan with various colored pencils. To add some extra shade, I used Stabilo Fiber Tip Pens (Markers).

When I was satisfied with the color, I colored a shade around the toucan with a grey colored pencil. Lastly, I colored a toucan's eye with a white pigment ink pen and my card was finished. :o)

Card measurements: 89 mm x 121 mm (3 1/2" x 4 3/4")

Birthday Surprise Blog Hop for Jane

And here is what I created for today: CAS (clean and simple), Rainbow Paintbrushes Birthday Card. :o)

To make this card I used stamps from two BEAUTIFUL Jane's Doodles stamp sets: a paintbrush stamp from 'Funny Bunny' stamp set and a sentiment from 'All Occasions' stamp set.

How I made my card...

I had colored paintbrushes for a while in my drawer. I colored them this year in June during Kathy's Racoosin 13th 30 Day Coloring Challenge (preview here). I stamped paintbrushes on a white watercolor paper and colored them in watercolor technique using Distress Inks. After drying, I fussy cut paintbrushes and traced edges with a black marker.

I pulled out paintbrushes and used them on my today's card.

I stamped paintbrushes on a white side folded card base, colored paintbrushes with the black marker and then glued watercolored paintbrushes over them.

Then I heat embossed in white the sentiment on a black cardstock paper. I cut the sentiment to a desirable stripe size, glued some 3-D foam on the back of the sentiment and glued it on the card.

As a finishing touch, I drew white highlights on paintbrushes using a white pigment ink pen and my card was finished.. :o)
