Earthquakes in Croatia

Hello everyone!!

Three days in a row we had earthquakes here in central part of Croatia.

It all started on Monday at 6:28 AM local time, when an earthquakee of 5.2 magnitude hit. The epicenter was near towns Petrinja and Sisak, around 50 kilometres SE of the capital Zagreb (around 25 kilometres from where I live). Earthquakes continued through the day.

Yesterday at 12:19 PM local time, an earthquake of 6.4 magnitude in the epicenter hit and it was devastating for cities Petrinja, Sisak, Glina and places around.

Many families lost their homes and there were victims and injured too. City Petrinja is totally devastated, as well as some places around. County hospital in Sisak is unusable and all patients had to be transferred to the capital Zagreb. Heartbreaking...

My family and I are safe and well. Thank you all who contacted me to check on how we all are.

We did feel the earthquake quite. Everything was shaking and it was scary, but luckily we didn't suffer any damages.

This morning earthquakes continued. First one at 6:15 AM local time, magnitude 4.7, and then at 6:26 AM, magnitude 4.8, Not a fun wake up at all. Minor earthquakes continued through the whole day.

This is a hard time for all of us in Croatia and we all try to help as we can to families that lost everything in a second of time.

Jane of Jane's Doodles drew a beautiful digital stamp to sell for $5 to raise money for all who are in need and suffering the effects of earthquakes in Croatia. She will donate raised money to Croatia's Red Cross. If you can, please join this noble action. You can find more details on Jane's Doodles blog (here). Thank you for the bottom of my heart.

In this scary and hard time, I took a break from posting my 12 Days of Christmas Series here on my blog, as I can't concentrate on anything at the moment. I will continue with my series as soon as I get ready to do it. Thank you for understanding.

I'm sending you all big hugs.

12 Days of Christmas - Day 3 - I Love Math Challenge #18

Hello everyone and welcome to 3rd Day of my 12 Days of Christmas Series and a new I Love Math Challenge! :o)

This is our eighteenth challenge. If you're new to my blog, you can find all about the challenge here.

Yes, this challenge should start earlier this month, but it wasn't possible for me to prepare everything earlier, so it's starting today.

My AMAZING Designers Collaborators are on a break from this challenge, to take a well deserved rest from everything at the end of this year. :o)

IMPORTANT: This challenge will last only one month.

I picked a theme for this challenge and it's Christmas/Winter MATH Project.

Christmas/Winter Themed any kind of project: card, layout, box, mixed media... Project must have visible mathematical element/elements: numbers, shapes, lines, formulas, spirals... it can be a box... it can be inspired by some mathematician... There are infinite possibilities. :o)

And here is my take on the challenge: Sour Cream Container Christmas Gift Box . :o)

To make this Christmas Gift Box, I was inspired with a project I created last year: Sour Cream Containers Advent Calendar.

My math elements are:

How I made this Christmas Gift Box...

First I folded the container. I found great photo tutorial here.

I used 3" x 6" patterned paper and folded a cream container following the tutorial. I left one side of the container unglued and open to fill it later.

I glued a sticker on a white cardstock paper scrap, cut out the circle, glued 3-D foams on the back of the circle and embellished the container with it.

On the unglued part, I pierced a hole with a crafting needle, placed a decorative brad through the hole and my gift box was finished.

Really easy and fun to make. It's a cute way to give a tiny gift to someone. It can be filled with treats, cookie, puzzles... :o)

List of supplies:
  • Crafter's Companion Bebunni Christmas 6" x 6" Designer Paper Pad
  • white cardstock paper
  • Christmas sticker (bought at the local store DM)
  • decorative brad
  • double sided adhesive tape
  • 3-D square foam 5 x 5 x 2 mm
  • Fiskars High Precision Personal Paper Trimmer
  • bone folder
  • scissors
  • crafting needle

Now it's your turn...

Create a Christmas/Winter Themed any kind of project: card, layout, box, mixed media... Project must have visible mathematical element/elements: numbers, shapes, lines, formulas, spirals... it can be a box... it can be inspired by some mathematician... There are infinite possibilities. :o)

Advent Wreath

Hi everyone! :o)

I hope you're all well and getting ready for Christmas. :o)

Although today is last Advent Day, I want to share with you my Advent Wreath. :o) I wanted to share it on a first Advent day, but things weren't going as I planed, so I'm bringing it today. :o)

My mom borrowed me a gorgeous white tray, I bought white candles and my honey bought me lovely jingle bells. All other stuff that I used I had at home: a snowman figurine, star shaped sequins, snowflake die-cuts, snowballs etc. I played and arranged everything on the tray and was finished in less than an hour. :o)

I love how it turned out!! :o)

Tomorrow is Christmas and I'm starting 12 Days of Christmas Series here on my blog. I wanted to do Count down to Christmas Series through the Advent, but as I mentioned at the beginning of this post, things didn't go as I planed so I'll go with a shorter series. I hope you'll visit and check my 12 Days of Christmas series in next 12 days. I'll be sharing some cards and there will be also some giveaways. :o)

Update: December 30th, 2020
Due to the earthquakes situation in the central part of Croatia, series will be postponed and continued after I'll be ready to post here on my blog.

Thank you for stopping by and your kind feedback. Enjoy and smile!! :o)

Jane's Birthday Party Blog Hop

Happy Friday!! :o)

Welcome to a special, Jane's Birthday Party Blog Hop. :o)

Our Jane turned 46 today and is celebrating with this blog hop, two giveaways, one here and one on Instagram, as well with 46% off 24 hours sale. :o)

Happy birthday, Jane!!!

Jane gave us, the Design Team, a simple "task" for today: to showcase our favorite Jane's Doodles stamp set. :o)

Although I love all Jane's Doodles stamp sets that I have, 122 of them, I didn't think too much which stamp set to use. I immediately knew I want to use 'Merry Gnomes' stamp set. The cutest Gnomes in stamping world. LOVEEEEE!!!!

And here is what I prepared for today: Red and White Gnome Christmas Ornament. :o)

I made this one to decorate my Christmas tree. Red&white color combination is the combination I want this year. :o)

How I created my ornament...

I stamped a gnome on a watercolor paper and colored him in watercolor technique, using Distress Inks and colored pencils. After drying, I fussy cut the gnome, traced edges with a black marker and left him aside.

I cut a circle from a beautiful patterned paper Jane sent me last month. I cut another circle from a white cardstock paper and glued two circles together just to make it a bit thicker.

Then I stamped the gnome on the circle and colored him with the black marker. I stamped another gnome on the white cardstock paper, fussy cut him out, traced edges with the black marker and glued the watercolored gnome over him. I did this to make the image thicker.

I glued 3-D foam squares on the back of the gnome and glued him on the circle over the gnome colored with black marker, which adds extra shade.

I drew white highlights on the gnome's outfit with a white pigment ink pen.

Lastly, I placed circle in a clear acrylic fillable ornament ball, closed the ball, tied a white twine on the top and my ornament was finished. :o)

I love how my ornament turned out!! :o)

At the bottom of this post you can find detailed supply lists of my today's project. Link to this post will be in a right sidebar until the Blog Hop ends. :o)

And now to the Blog Hop prize...

With each Blog Hop three is a giveaway too. Our generous Jane is giving away 4 Pucker Up! stamp sets. Find all the details about blog hop prizes over at Jane's Doodles blog.

Here is the Blog Hop order:

Kaja Vezenšek
Milka Gubo (you are here)
Katerina Vorsobina (on Jane's Doodles blog)

Jane will announce winners on Monday, December 21st, 2020, at Jane's Doodles Blog.

Don't forget, Jane is having 46% off sale today. Ends midnight CET. No code needed. :o)

There is one more giveaway on Jane's Doodles Instagram account. :o)

Now hop over to Neha's blog and see what she created for today's hop.

Thank you for visiting. I hope you enjoyed on my stop today and got inspired. :o)

Reindeer Winter Wishes Mini Circle Card (bastel-traum challenge #95)

    Hi everyone! :o)

My second post today. If you missed the first one, just scroll down or follow a direct link here.

On November 15th, 2020, a new challenge started at bastel-traum and our theme for the challenge #95 is Winter. :o)

I'm a bit late sharing my post here on my blog, but there is still 2 weeks left to join in the fun.

The challenge started on November 15th, 2020, at 9 AM, CET (UTC +1) and ends on December 15th, 2020, at 8:55 AM, CET (UTC +1). Find all the details about the challenge, rules and prizes in a challenge post (here).

And here is my take on the challenge: Reindeer Winter Wishes Mini Circle Card. :o)

To make this card I was inspired with a card that I shared in my first blog post today (here).

For my card I used an adorable reindeer stamp from Mama Elephant 'Reindeer Games' stamp set, background snowflakes from Jane's Doodles 'Driving Home for Christmas' stamp set and Jane's Doodles 'Snow Globe' stamp set and a sentiment from Your Next Stamp 'Christmas Critters' stamp set (the set is discontinued form YNS shop).

    How I made my card....

First I created a background panel. I randomly stamped snowflakes on a Kraft paper in watermark stamping technique using VersaMark Watermark Ink and drew dots with VersaMark Watermark Pen. Then I die cut a wonky stitched circle from the Kraft paper.

Then I made a card base. I cut two circles from a white cardstock paper and glued them together on the top.

I glued the Kraft panel on the circle card base.

Next up was an image. I stamped the reindeer on a watercolor paper and colored him in watercolor technique with Distress Inks. After drying, I fussy cut the reindeer and traced edges with a black marker.

I stamped another reindeer on a white cardstock paper, colored him with a grey marker and fussy cut him, leaving white thin border around the reindeer Then I glued the watercolored reindeer over the grey one.

I die cut a speech bubble form a white cardstock paper and stamped the sentiment on it.

I love dimension on my cards. I glued 3-D foam squares (2 different thickness) on the back of the reindeer and the speech bubble and glued them on the card.

As a finishing touch I drew white highlights on the reindeer using a white gel pen, embellished the card with three brown enamel dots and my card was finished. :o)

I love how my card turned out. :o)
