Flamingos Wedding Card (Jane's Doodles DT July Spotlight)

Happy Friday! :o)

This is my fourth and last post today. If you missed previous three, just scroll down, or follow direct links here (I've announced my 6th Bloggoversary winner.), here and here. :o)

This weekend I'm sharing my Jane's Doodles spotlight projects that I made in June, July, August and September, but I didn't share them here on my blog yet. Two days ago I shared full list of projects that I'll be sharing (here).

Today I'm sharing my June and July spotlights, three spotlights in total, all in separate blog posts. My posts are scheduled and will go live every hour.

Third and last one today is this CAS (clean and simple), Flamingos Wedding Card. It was my spotlight project for Jane's Doodles on Thursday, July 23rd, 2020.  :o)

I made this wedding card for friends who got married on July 25th. :o)

To make this card I used stamps from two beautiful Jane's Doodles stamp sets: flamingos from 'Tropical Fun' and a sentiment from 'Love' (the set is discontinued and is on sale).

How I made my card...

I stamped flamingos on a white cardstock paper, colored them with a grey marker and fussy cut them, leaving a thin white border around them. I used a kraft knife, a self healing mat and scissors for fussy cutting.

I stamped flamingos again, this time on a watercolor paper. I colored flamingos in watercolor technique using Distress Inks. I colored their beaks with a black fine liner.

After drying, I fussy cut watercolored flamingos, traced their edges with a black marker and glued them over the grey flamingos. I did this because the watercolor paper I use is thin and I needed thicker images.

Then I stamped the sentiment on a white cardstock paper panel.

I wanted to add dimension to my card, but I didn't want to use 3-D foam squares to add dimension to the panel. Instead I used white cardstock paper scraps and cut two rectangles out of them, just a slightly smaller than the panel with the stamped sentiment. I glued all panels together and glued them on a white top folded cardstock paper card base. Just to make my card a bit sturdier and possible to stand, as the front of the card was quite heavy, I glued another white cardstock paper panel inside the card base.

Lastly, I glued 3-D foam squares on the back of both flamingos and glued them on the card. As a finishing touch, I drew white highlights on flamingos with a white pigment ink pen and my card was finished.

I really like how I colored flamingos and how my card turned out. :o)

Card measurements: 89 mm x 146 mm (3 1/2" x 5 3/4")
