This weekend I'm sharing my Jane's Doodles spotlight projects that I made in March, April and May, but I didn't share them here on my blog yet. Yesterday I shared full list of projects that I'll be sharing (here). Today I'm sharing my March spotlights.
This Hippo Birthday Card was my spotlight project for Jane's Doodles on Wednesday, March 25th, 2020. :o)
I used stamps from Jane's Doodles 'Wild' stamp set. :o)
How I made my card....
I stamped a hippo on a watercolor paper and colored him in watercolor technique, using a Distress Ink Hickory Smoke. After coloring and drying, I fussy cut the hippo, traced edges with a black marker and softened the hippo using a stylus ball on a soft working mat. This curled the image a bit.
I stamped another hippo on a white cardstock paper scrap, fussy cut him, leaving a thin white border around him, colored him with a grey marker and glued the watercolored hippo over him. I did this because watercolor paper I use is thick and I needed thicker image, but also to create extra dimension on my card. :o)
Then I worked on a frame. I cut three frames from the white cardstock paper and one from a patterned paper. I glued frames together (stacked them).
I die cut a speech bubble from the patterned paper and stamped a sentiment on it.
With all parts ready, I assembled the card. I stamped leaves in grey directly on a white side folded card base and glued the frame on the card base. I glued 3-D foam squares on the image and speech bubble and glued them on the card.
As a finishing touch I drew white highlights on the hippo using a white pigment ink pen, embellished the card with grey enamel dots my card was finished. :o)
