Chubby Penguin Card II (Kitty Bee Designs Spotlight)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone! :o)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Kitty Bee Designs and I made this CAS (clean and simple), Chubby Penguin Card II. :o)

My card is a CASE of my own card I made last year: Chubby Penguin Card. I copied it completely, just used another cute penguin image and placed two stars differently. :o)

How I made my card....

I printed the penguin on a watercolor paper and left him dry through the night to prevent ink smearing. I colored the penguin in watercolor technique, using Distress Inks. After drying, I fussy cut the penguin, traced edges with a black marker and softened the penguin on a soft working mat using stylus ball. I printed another penguin on a white cardstock paper, colored him in black, fussy cut him, leaving thin border around him, and glued watercolored penguin over him.

I stamped a sentiment on a top folded white card base, glued 3-D foams on the back of the penguin and placed him on a card. As a finishing touch, I embellished the card with blue enamel stars. :o)

Card measurements: 102 mm x 134 m(4" x 5 1/4")

Merry Christmas Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Hi everyone! :o)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this Merry Christmas Card:o)

To make this card I used stamps from three ADORABLE Jane's Doodles stamp sets'St. Nick''Driving Home For Christmas' and 'Warm and Cozy'.

How I made this card...

I stamped a reindeer on a watercolor paper and colored him in watercolor technique using Distress Ink Ground Espresso. After drying I fussy cut the reindeer, traced edges with black marker and stamped another reindeer on a white cardstock paper, colored him in black and fussy cut, leaving thin white border around him. Then I glued together two reindeer. I did this because the watercolor paper I use is very thin and I needed a bit thicker image. As a finishing touch, I drew white and black details on reindeer's scarf using a white pigment ink and black fine liner. :o)

Then I worked on a background. I heat embossed in white stars on a Kraft paper panel and glued the panel on a white top folded card base. I cut two hills from the white cardstock paper, glued one directly on the panel, added some foam on the other hill and glued it on the card. Then I drew white dots on the panel to create more snowy effect. I must admit this is my favorite snowy background on Kraft. :o)

I LOVE dimension on my cards. :o) When creating scenes like on this card, I like to use various dimensions of 3D foam. It gives even more interest. :o)

I heat embossed in white a sentiment on the Kraft paper and cut a stripe shape I liked. I glued 3D foam squares on the back of the reindeer and the sentiment, placed them on the card and my card was finished. :o)

1) As You Like It ChallengeDo you prefer Rubber or Digis?
This is my 2nd entry to this challenge.
I use and like them both, rubber and digis, as they both have their own benefits, but like rubber (and clear acetate) stamps just a bit more. This is for a reason I really enjoy having a stamp in my hands and actually stamp. Also, I spend less time creating a layout for my card with physical stamps than with digis, I can stamp wherever I want and can use stamps for more crafting techniques, for example heat embossing. :o)

Bird singing in Snow Card

Hi everyone! :o)

Today I want to share with you this CAS (clean and simple), one layer, Bird singing in Snow Card. :o)

To make this card I used stamps from a super cute Jane's Doodles 'St. Nick' stamp set. :o)

How I made this card...

I stamped a bird and music notes directly on a top folded Kraft paper card base. I also drew a treble clef with a fine liner. I colored the bird with colored pencils.

When I was satisfied, I masked the bird and splattered an area around the bird with a white tempera color mixed with water and colored snow under the bird with it. After drying, I didn't like it at all. It was weird.

I  masked the bird again and spattered whole front panel. Then I blended whole surface with Distress Ink Picket Fence. Better. :o)

As a finishing touch, I rounded two opposite corners of the card with a rounded paper puncher, drew white highlights and black details with white pigment ink and black fine liner, and my card was finished. :o)

Card measurements: 92 mm x 121 mm (3 5/8" x 4 3/4" )

List of supplies :
  • Jane's Doodles 'St. Nick' stamp set
