Rainbow Colors Birthday Card (Jane's Doodles DT March Spotlight + BIRC #3)

Hi everyone!! :o)

This is my second post today. If you missed the first one just scroll down or follow a direct link here. I shared my card for new bastel-traum challenge. :o)

This weekend I'll be sharing my Jane's Doodles spotlight projects that I made in March, April and May, but I didn't share them here on my blog yet. Yesterday I shared full list of projects that I'll be sharing (here). Today I'm sharing my March spotlights.

First one today is CAS (clean and simple), Rainbow Colors Birthday Card. It was my spotlight project for Jane's Doodles on my birthday, Monday, March 16th, 2020.  :o)

This Birthday Card (BIRC) is a third card I made for a Celebrating 30 Days of Pisces 2020 personal challenge. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to complete my challenge this year. I will write a wrap up post in couple days.

My card is a CASE (copy and share everything) of my own card that I made three years ago, on March 16th, 2017 (here). I went with same design, layout, used same products, I just reversed colors in a rainbow drip. :o)

To make this card, I used a lovely paint brush image from 'Funny Bunny' stamp set and my favorite birthday sentiment (love that font) from 'Belated Birthday' stamp set.

How I made my card...

I stamped the paint brush on a watercolor paper, colored it with Distress Inks in a watercoloring technique, fussy cut the brush and traced edges with a black marker. I stamped another paint brush  on a white cardstock paper scrap and fussy cut it, leaving white thin border around the brush. I colored the brush in black and glued the watercolored paint brush over it. I did this to make the image thicker, as the watercolor paper I use is thin and doesn't work well with pop up images. Lastly, I added white highlights with a white pigment ink pen.

I cut a panel from a watercolor paper and stamped the sentiment on the panel. Then I colored the rainbow drip with a lot of water and Distress Inks and dried it with Heat It Tool. After drying, I glued the panel on a white top folded white card base.

Then I glued a foam tape on the back of the paint brush and placed it on the card. As a finishing touch, I coated the rainbow drip and a color on the paint brush tip with a Clear Wink of Stella. Shimmery!!! :o)

Card measurements: 89 mm x 127 mm (3 1/2" x 5")

Hi everyone! :o)

I hope you're all well and healthy, as well as your loved ones.

On Thursday, March 5th, 2020, was my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this Yellow Ombré Roses Birthday Card. I didn't find time to share my card before, so I'm bringing it today. :o)

This Birthday Card (BIRC) is a second card I made for a Celebrating 30 Days of Pisces 2020 personal challenge. If you want to find out more about it, just follow the link provided. :o)

To make this card I CASEd (copy and share everything) a card that I created last year in January (here). On my today's card I went with different color scheme.

For my card I used stamps from two gorgeous Jane's Doodles stamp sets: 'Bloom' and 'All Occasions'.

How I made my card...

With some masking, I heat embossed in white roses on a watercolor paper panel. Then I ink blended the whole panel with two yellowish Distress Inks to create Ombré Effect. I splattered the panel with water, dried it and repeated the process until I achieved the color I liked. :o)

After drying, I glued the panel on a white top folded card base and coated whole panel twice with a clear Wink of Stella.

Then I Heat embossed in white a sentiment on a black cardstock paper and cut out a stripe of desirable size. Lastly, I glued some foam on the sentiment stripe, glued it on the card and my card was finished. :o)

Celebrating 30 days of Pisces 2020 - Intro

Happy Sunday! :o)

I wanted to post this earlier this week, but I didn't find time to finish my blog post, so I'm bringing it today. :o)

On Wednesday, February 19th, 2020, at 5:57 AM (CET, UTC +1), Sun entered Pisces and Pisces period has started. :o)

Five years ago (2015), I started a personal challenge which took time in Pisces period, Celebrating 30 days of Pisces. I gave myself 4 challenges to complete them in 30 days. Goals of those challenges were to improve my coloring and card making skills, to learn some new techniques, to finish a "long time waiting to be finished" project and to improve my English by writing here on blog daily. I managed to complete all challenges, I accomplished my goals, made some new friends and had loads of fun!

Satisfied with results of my first challenge and self improvement, I decided to make this challenge annual. :o)

Four years ago (2016), I've challenged myself to create 30 CAS cards in 30 days, as they were (and still are) my favorite card design. Goals of the challenge were to improve CAS card designing and generally cardmaking skills. I made 30 CAS cards and completed the challenge. Not all cards I made were unique design, there were couple sets and CASEs, but I accomplished my goals and improved coloring and designing skills.

Three years ago (2017) I've challenged myself to practice hand lettering every day in Pisces period. Goals of the challenge were to improve my hand lettering skills, to encourage myself  to hand letter on my projects and to continue practicing after the challenge ends. I've completed the challenge, practiced every day and improved my hand lettering skills. After my challenge finished I didn't practice by January 2019 (nearly two years), when I started hand lettering in my bullet journal (my first one). I found bullet journal very practical (helps me track bunch of stuff and keeps me organized... all in one place), so I'm bullet journaling this year too. :o)

Two years ago (2018) I've challenged myself to create 20 (or more) cards featuring rainbow colors.  Goals of the challenge  were to improve my cardmaking skills and to use more rainbow colors on my cards. I managed to create 19 cards. Although I didn't reach number 20 as I planned, I was not disappointed, neither find it a failure. I practiced, incorporated rainbow colors in my projects in various ways, created 19 cards that I liked a lot and had a lot of fun. :o)

Last year (2019) I've challenged myself to create 15 (or more) different types of interactive cards. Goals of the challenge were to learn new techniques and improve my cardmaking skills. I completed my challenge and created 15 different types of interactive cards. I had so much fun creating various interactive cards and I learned a lot. :o)

You can find all about my previous years celebrations/challenges on my Personal Challenges Page.

Celebrating 30 days of Pisces 2020

This is a personal challenge which will take time in Pisces period (30 days). Pisces period started on February 19th at 5:57 AM and ends on March 20th at 4:49 AM. (CET, UTC +1, Zagreb, Croatia).

I love giving and sending out Birthday Cards, but I never have them enough to give as much I would love to. I'm challenging myself to create 15 (or more) Birthday Cards in Pisces period.

My plan is to create 15 (or more) different Birthday Cards... different designs, layouts, images, paper, coloring mediums... I would also like to create at least one card set, just to have more cards to give away. I will count a card set as 1 card, for example: card set of 8 birthday cards counts as 1, not 8.

Goals of the challenge are to create a stash of birthday cards and to improve my cardmaking skills. :o)

I'll be sharing my progress and finished cards here on my blog when I finish them and time allows me so.

As you might noticed, I'm not so active here on my blog neither on any other social media since I've started to work in November last year. As an accountant I work 7 - 8 hours on computer daily. In my free time I rather spend time with my family and friends, visiting nature or crafting, than by computer. During this 30 days personal challenge I'll focus on crafting and achieving my goals, so I'll post when I'll have time.

After the challenge ends, I'll write wrap-up post with a complete preview. I'll give my best to post all by the end of March. :o)

I've already created couple cards since the challenge started. My first birthday card is already shared on  Friday, February 21st,  as my Spotlight project for Jane's Doodles (here). I didn't share it here on my blog yet, as I didn't find time to write a blog post. I will share it here on my blog tomorrow. :o)

Thank you for visiting and reading. Enjoy and smile! :o)

Celebrating 30 Days of Pisces 2019 - Wrap Up Post

Happy Friday! :o)

Today I'm bringing you a Wrap-up post of my Celebrating 30 days of Pisces 2019 personal challenge, as I finally managed to share here on my blog all cards I made during the challenge. It took me quite a while, but so many things were (and are) happening in my life on all fields, I simply didn't manage to do it earlier (for example in spring... LOL). :o)

Celebrating 30 days of Pisces is my annual personal challenge which takes time in Pisces period. Goal of the challenge is to improve my skills.

This year was the fifth time I took the challenge. It started on February 19th at 0:04 AM and ended on March 20th at 10:58 PM. (CET, UTC +1, Zagreb, Croatia).

I love interactive cards, but don't create them so often. My challenge this year was to create 15 (or more) different types of interactive cards in Pisces period.

Goals of the challenge were to learn new techniques and improve my cardmaking skills. (Find Intro post here.)

I managed to complete my challenge and created 15 types of interactive cards. :o)

I created 1 card set, with 3 same type of interactive cards. In total, I created 17 interactive cards. :o)

As you already know, CAS (clean and simple) design is my favorite cardmaking design. Combined with interactive elements, it's a perfect card for me. I managed to keep design as simple as possible on all of my interactive cards. :o)

I'm very satisfied with the challenge and the result. I learned new techniques and how to create various types of interactive cards, I improved my cardmaking skills, stretched my supplies as much as possible and had a lot of fun. :o)

All details about the challenge, links to all blog posts related to the challenge and a photo gallery will be shared on my Celebrating 30 days of Pisces 2019 page. :o)

You might already know that I love previews, so I'm bringing today also a preview of all cards I made during the challenge. :o)

Camel Slider Card (IC #15)

Hi everyone! :o)

Today I want to share with you this CAS (clean and simple), Camel Slider Card. :o)

I made this Interactive (IC) SLIDER CARD for my Celebrating 30 Days of Pisces 2019 personal challenge. If you want to find out more about it, just follow the link provided. :o)

This is a FIFTEENTH and last type of IC I made for my challenge. I made 15 different types of interactive cards during Pisces period, which was my personal challenge. I completed my challenge, achieved my goals and had a lot of fun. I wrote a short review about the challenge here.

How I made this card...

To make this card I used stamps from two adorable Paper Smooches stamp sets: a camel from 'Zoo Crew' and a sentiment form 'Sentiment Sampler'. I also used a tiny dots stamp from Create a Smile 'Beach Party' stamp set (part of a kit).

I stamped the camel on a watercolor paper and watercolored her using Distress Inks. After drying, I fussy cut the camel and traced edges with a black marker. I stamped another camel on a white cardstock paper, colored her with black marker, fussy cut her, traced edges with black marker and glued watercolored camel over the black one. I did this because the watercolor paper I used is very thin and I needed a thicker image.

Then I prepared a white side folded card base and a white cardstock paper panel, both same size.

As I don't have slider die-cuts, I used tools I have to create slider opening. I die cut two tiny circles on the panel. Then I cut two parallel lines, using a kraft knife and a ruler, from one to another circle and got slider opening.

Next up was a background scene. I was inspired with two cards I made in the past, both CASEd from a super talented Francine Vuillème of 1001 cartes. You can find my cards here and here (Francine's originals here and here).

For the Sun, I used a circle stencil that I made couple years ago from an acetate sheet leftovers, using a circle cutter. I blended Distress Inks through the stencil on the panel.

For the sand, I masked bottom part of the panel with post-it papers and blended a Distress Ink Tea Dye on the panel. Then I stamped tiny dots over the sand to make it more realistic. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment on the panel.

For a slider mechanism, I used a square piece of a cardstock paper and a plastic letter bead. I glued the bead on the cardstock square and left it dry for an hour. I didn't use any special glue. I used UHU all purpose liquid glue.

With all parts ready, I assembled the card. I glued a 3-D foam on the back of the panel, placed the slider mechanism on the card base and glued the panel on the card base, making sure the bead was peeking through the slider opening on the panel. Prior I continued, I tested the mechanism. Lastly, I glued the camel on the bead and my card was finished. :o)

Card measurements:  127 mm x 95 mm ( 5" x 3 3/4")

Rainbow Butterfly Shaker Card (IC #14)

Hello everyone! :o)

Today I want to share with you this Rainbow Butterfly Shaker Card. :o)

I made this Interactive (IC) WINDOW SHAKER CARD for my Celebrating 30 Days of Pisces 2019 personal challenge. If you want to find out more about it, just follow the link provided. :o)

I've made window shaker cards in the past and I find them really easy and fun to make. :o)

This is a fourteenth type of IC I made for my challenge. I made 15 different types of interactive cards during Pisces period, which was my personal challenge. I completed my challenge, achieved my goals and had a lot of fun. I wrote a short review about the challenge here.

To make this card I CASEd (copy and share everything) my own card I created last year (here). I went with same design, layout, birthday theme, used same products and colors, there is only one difference, CASEd card is CAS, while today's card is interactive CAS card. :o)

How I made my card...

I die cut beautiful butterfly in a white cardstock paper panel, left an outline and threw away tiny little pieces. I glued an acetate sheet on the back of the panel to close the window. I stamped a sentiment on the panel and glued 3-D foam squares on the panel, making sure gluing them close together around the butterfly shape.

Then I blended Distress Inks on a white cardstock paper piece, following a rainbow pattern. I filled the shaker window with transparent beads and glued the colored piece over it to close the window.

I glued the panel on a white top folded card base and glued another white panel inside the card to make the card sturdier.

Lastly, I glued the die-cut butterfly on the shaker window and my card was finished. :o)

Card dimensions: 89 mm x 120 mm (3 1/2" x 4 3/4")

List of supplies:

White Feather Card (IC #13)

Hi everyone! :o)

Today I want to share with you this CAS (clean and simple), White Feather Card. :o)

I made this Interactive (IC) ACCORDION GATEFOLD CARD for my Celebrating 30 Days of Pisces 2019 personal challenge. If you want to find out more about it, just follow the link provided. :o)

This is a thirteenth type of IC I made for my challenge. I made 15 different types of interactive cards during Pisces period, which was my personal challenge. I completed my challenge, achieved my goals and had a lot of fun. I wrote a short review about the challenge here.

It's taking me much longer than I planed to share all my IC cards with you. I will give my best to share rest of two by the end of this month.

How I made this card...

To make this card I used gorgeous feather die cut I got from a dear friend crafter, Alice of Scrap & C. Thank you so much, Alice!!! ♥

For a card base I used a white cardstock paper cut to 11 1/4" x 5". I scored the paper at 1 7/8", 3 3/4", 7 1/2" and 9 3/8" on the longer side and folded paper along scored lines. I got a card base measured 3 3/4" x 5".

With the card base ready, I die cut a feather on both gate flaps. I glued an acetate piece behind each gate opening, but just on one half.

I die cut 4 more feathers from a white cardstock paper scraps and glued two together (stacking die cuts). Then I glued stacked feathers into gate openings (die cut inlay technique).

Lastly I created a super simple belt that will keep the card closed. I cut a vellum paper to a desirable size, wrapped the vellum belt around the card (not too tight), removed it and glued two endings together to form a belt. I placed the belt on the card to keep it closed and my card was finished. :o)

Card measurements (closed): 95 mm x 127 mm (3 3/4" x 5")

List of supplies:

I LOVE how my card turned out!!! :o) There is so much space to write a message. Here is a short video. :o)

In this video I used music from a friend of mine and a first neighbor now, very very talented mister, dr.Izzy. I used part of a track Angel on my shoulder.... Beautiful music he creates is shared and is downloadable for free from his Soundcloud account. Thank you dr.Izzy!!! :o)

Thank you for stopping by and your kind feedback. Enjoy and smile! :o)
