And here is what I prepared for today: CAS (clean and simple), Birthday Hippo Card using stamps from the 'Wild' stamp set. :o)
I stamped a hippo on a watercolor paper and colored him in watercolor technique, using a Distress Ink Hickory Smoke. After coloring and drying, I fussy cut the hippo, traced edges with a black marker and softened the hippo using a stylus ball on a soft working mat. This curled the image a bit.
I stamped another hippo on a white cardstock paper scrap, fussy cut him, leaving a thin white border around him, colored him with a grey marker and glued the watercolored hippo over him. I did this because watercolor paper I use is thin and I needed thicker image.
Then I worked on a frame. I glued together three frames, each in different paper color. I made these using a Polaroid frame die cut and a paper trimmer. First I die cut three Polaroid frames and then cut the bottom part of each to get a nice rectangle frame. :o)
I glued together frames, forming an interesting shape, and then glued the frame on a white top folded card base. I masked the area around the frame and stamped leaves inside the frame, directly on the card base.
Then I die cut a speech bubble from a black cardstock paper and heat embossed a sentiment in white on it.
I glued 3-D foam squares on the image and speech bubble and glued them on the card.
As a finishing touch I drew white highlights on the hippo using a white pigment ink pen and my card was finished. :o)
