Joie de Vivre Box (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Hi everyone :-D

Today it's my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles.

Joie de Vivre Box is my project for today.

I used gorgeous Jane's Doodles Butterflies stamp set.

I altered a small Kraft hexagon cardboard box with a lid I had in my stash few years.

First I colored the box and lid inside with Tim Holtz's Distress Inks (I mixed Brushed Corduroy and Walnut Stain with water) using paintbrush. Then I distressed all outside edges with TH Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy.

I cut out two hexagons and two rectangle stripes from scraps of Graphic 45 'French Country' Patterns and Solids, distressed edges with TH Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy and glued them on the box and lid with UHU universal glue.

Then I stamped butterflies on the box and lid using TH Distress Ink Walnut Stain and Brown Dye Ink pad. After stamping, I distressed whole surface with TH Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy using blending tool. I dried everything in between with hairdryer. At the end I splattered whole surface with water using my fingers.

When I was satisfied with the look of the surface and color I got, I coated the box and lid, inside and outside, three times with découpage glue and varnish.

After drying (I left it dry for a day), I made small box legs from wooden beads and Long Fasteners, and simply glued them on the bottom of the box.

I also decorated the box and lid with TH Idea-ology Long Fasteners.

List of supplies:
  • Jane's Doodles 'Butterflies' stamp set
  • Kraft cardboard hexagon box with a lid (5 cm x 3.5 cm)

Snowman Box (Crafty Creations Challenges #287)

Hi everyone :-D

It´s time for a new challenge at Crafty Creations Challenges.
http://craftycreationschallenges.blogspot.com/

Our theme for this fortnight is #287 - Seeing Spots (use dots)

Our sponsor for this challenge is Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps, whit a great prize for one random winner: 3 digital images of winner's choice.
http://robynsfetish.com/shop/

Snowman Box is my project for this challenge.

I decorated a small Kraft cardboard box with a lid I had in my stash for a couple of years, using our sponsor's image 'Chester da Snowman' digital stamp, designer paper scraps and Kraft paper from my stash. Kraft paper I used on my project is recycled.

How I made my box...
I cut out two circles and two stripes from brown dotted paper scraps (Crafters Companion Bebunni Christmas Designer Paper Pad). I distressed edges with Tim Holtz's Distress Ink Antique Linen and glued them on the box and lid with universal glue
Then I printed Robyn's Fetish 'Chester da Snowman' digital stamp on Kraft packaging paper (thick Kraft paper) and colored him with colored pencils and universal white pencil, fussy cut and glued him on the lid.
I wanted the box to look old, so I teared stripes from Kraft paper bag and glued them on corners of the box and lid. I did this in découpage technique, using fine brush and découpage glue and varnish. After adding first layer of découpage glue and varnish, I smeared whole box with Tim Holtz's Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy. I coated whole box and lid (inside and outside) several times with découpage glue and varnish.
After the box and lid were dry, I glued three synthetic snowballs on the bottom of the box to create box legs.

Easter Basket

Hi everyone :-D

Today I want to share with you an Easter Basket I made last week.

To make a basket, I used a tutorial I found here. I used a sheet of a white cardstock paper dimensioned 8 1/4" x 8 1/4". If you prefer finished templates, you can download Paper basket free printable template, or purchase a Dutch Doobadoo Dutch Box Art A4 Basket

I printed beautiful Gingham Prints (yellow) from Little Llama Shoppe on the white cardstock paper, cut out stripes, rectangles and triangles I needed and glued them on the basket's panels.

Then I glued panels together in a basket shape, with a découpage glue and varnish. After drying, I glued basket's handle on the basket and coated everything several times wit the découpage glue and varnish. I think this is the best glue to use when making something with curved shapes and want it make durable.

I used super fun  From the Heart Stamps 'Chocolate Bunny Birdbrain' digital stamp, printed it on a white cardstock paper and cut out circle shape around the image. I colored the image in watercoloring technique, using Tim Holtz's Distressed Inks, brush and water (Birdbrain and Chocolate Bunnies). Beak and eyelids are colored with orange colored pencil and covered with resin gel to create glossy accents.

I wanted the image to pop up. When it was dry, I added dimensional tape behind the image and placed it on the basket.

Then I embellished the basket with punched butterflies in découpage technique.

At the end I filled the basket with chocolate eggs.

List of supplies:
  • From the Heart Stamps 'Chocolate Bunny Birdbrain'
  • Gingham Prints (yellow) from Little Llama Shoppe (these were free gift in July 2014)
  • white cardstock paper
  • Kooh-i-noor woodless colored pencil (Reddish Orange 2)

Amanita Card

Hi everyone :-D

I want to share with you a mini card I made today for my friend. It´s this Amanita Card

To make this card, I was inspired with an Amanita Box I made and shared here on my blog recently. That little box is a gift for my friend. I thought that a similar card will be perfect with it.

How I made this card
I cut out a card base from a brown textured paper. Card dimensions are 76 mm x 101 mm (3" x 4").
I cut out a panel from red/white polka dot paper and distressed edges with Tim Holtz´s Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy.
I stamped mushrooms from  Paper Smooches 'Forest Whimsy' stamp set on Kraft paper bag, colored them with colored pencils and universal white pencil, fussy cut them and colored edges with black permanent pen.
I also punched out 4 1" scalloped circles from Kraft paper bag.
I decorated corners of the panel with scalloped circles and bottom center with mushrooms (Amanitas). I did this in découpage technique, using fine brush and découpage glue and varnish.
After the panel was dry, I glued it to the card base and added thick coat of transparent varnish on mushrooms´s dots to pop them up and to create glossy accents
I also glued a stripe of textured paper, punched with  MSC Edger Punch, Scallop Dot.
