Fairy Wishes Card (KBD Aloha Friday Challenge #72 Mid Inspiration)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Happy Friday everyone! :o)

Today I'm posting a mid-inspiration project for ongoing Aloha Friday Challenge at Kitty Bee Designs.

The challenge for this fortnight is #72 - Fairytale / Fantasy.

We have two sponsors for this challenge: A Day For Daisies and The Paper Shelter, so there will be double prizes! :o)

For this challenge I made a Fairy Wishes Card, using our sponsor's A Day For Daisies adorable image Painted Mushroom Top and Neil Gaiman's quote.

Neil Gaiman is one of the favorite authors in our home. Comic books, novels, children books... There are also films made based on his novels. My favorite: Stardust. It's a must see film. :o)

How I made my card...

I made a layout on my computer using MS Word, printed it out on a white watercolor paper and left it dry for an hour. I use inkjet printer and always leave image "drying" after printing to prevent ink smearing.

I colored the image and background in watercolor technique using Distress Inks. When I was satisfied, I covered the image with a paper scrap and splattered the background with water. After drying, I glued the panel on a white cardstock card base.

At the end, using white pen, I added some highlights on the image and drew white dots around it, to imitate fairy dust. :o)

Dimensions: 84 mm x 133 m(3 3/8" x 5 1/4")

Baby Fairy Amanita with Flower Card

Happy Friday! Happy Happiness day! Happy Spring! Happy everything! :o)

Spring officially started at 11:45 PM here in Cavtat. Pisces period ended and my Celebrating 30 days of Pisces 2015 celebration too. Well, almost. .
Shortly, I gave myself 4 challenges and tried to complete them in 30 days. And I did! :o) I had some technical problems at the beginning, so I decided to extend challenge no. 1 for one day, till tomorrow.

Today I made this springy, CAS (clean and simple), Baby Fairy Amanita with Flower Card

I used super cute Mo´s Manning digital stamp 'Amanita'. I have this little cutie for some time, but never used it before.

I printed the image on a white paper (160 grams) and colored it with colored pencils. I added some transparent varnish on toadstool dots, dots on fairy´s wings and stamens to create glossy accents and to add just a bit of dimension to the image.

Card dimensions are 101 mm x 145 mm (4" x 5 3/4").

List of supplies:
  • Mo´s Manning digital stamp 'Amanita'
  • white cardstock paper
  • white paper (160 grams)
  • colored pencils (skin color, pink, dark brown, grey)
  • Koh-i-noor woodless colored pencils (Titanium White 3, Chrome Yellow 1, Reddish Orange 2, Pyrrole Red 170, Meadow Green 4, Dark Green 5, Natural Sienna 11)
  • Koh-i-noor Mondeluz aquarell colored pencil (red 7)
  • Pritt universal glue
  • transparent varnish with extra gloss
  • printer
  • scoring board
  • trimmer
  • eraser
  • crafting needle

Amanita Card

Hi everyone :-D

I want to share with you a mini card I made today for my friend. It´s this Amanita Card

To make this card, I was inspired with an Amanita Box I made and shared here on my blog recently. That little box is a gift for my friend. I thought that a similar card will be perfect with it.

How I made this card
I cut out a card base from a brown textured paper. Card dimensions are 76 mm x 101 mm (3" x 4").
I cut out a panel from red/white polka dot paper and distressed edges with Tim Holtz´s Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy.
I stamped mushrooms from  Paper Smooches 'Forest Whimsy' stamp set on Kraft paper bag, colored them with colored pencils and universal white pencil, fussy cut them and colored edges with black permanent pen.
I also punched out 4 1" scalloped circles from Kraft paper bag.
I decorated corners of the panel with scalloped circles and bottom center with mushrooms (Amanitas). I did this in découpage technique, using fine brush and découpage glue and varnish.
After the panel was dry, I glued it to the card base and added thick coat of transparent varnish on mushrooms´s dots to pop them up and to create glossy accents
I also glued a stripe of textured paper, punched with  MSC Edger Punch, Scallop Dot.

Amanitas Mini Card

Hi everyone :-D

My second post today. If you missed the first one, just scroll down or go direct to the post here. :-D

I have another CAS (clean and simple), one layer, mini card to share with you. It´s this Amanitas Mini Card

This was a quick and easy to make card.

I cut out a card base from a white cardstock paper and rounded two opposite corners with round corner paper puncher. Card dimensions are 76 mm x 101 mm (3" x 4").

I used four stamps from  Paper Smooches 'Forest Whimsy' stamp set.
http://www.papersmoochesstamps.com/Forest_Whimsy_p/nosc-11-050.htm

I stamped directly to the card base: sentiment in the middle of the card base and mushrooms in the left corner. I stamped mushrooms in masking technique. After the ink was dry, I fixed few lines with permanent black pen. Then I colored mushrooms with colored pencils and added thick coat of transparent varnish on Amanitas´s dots to pop them up and to create glossy accents

At the end, I embellished card with homemade red faux enamel dots. I learned how to make faux enamel dots from video tutorial by ScrapTips on YouTube. First I made glue dots with a glue gun on a backing paper and colored them with Marabu glass Vermilion color. I left them dry one day. After drying, I glued them on card with Pritt universal glue.

List of supplies:
  • Paper Smooches 'Forest Whimsy'
  • white cardstock paper
  • colored pencil (skin color)
  • Koh-i-noor Mondeluz aquarell colored pencil (Red 7)
  • Koh-i-noor Woodless pencils (Titanium White 3, Pyrrole Red 170, Natural Sienna 11)

  • Marabu glass color (Vermilion 436)
  • Staedtler Lumocolor permanent black pen F (fine) 0.6 mm
  • Ranger Archival Ink (Jet Black)
  • Pritt universal glue
  • transparent low temperature glue stick
  • transparent varnish with extra gloss
  • scoring board
  • trimmer
  • ruler
  • eraser
  • pencil
  • polymer stamp handle (38 mm x 35 mm)

Amanita Box (Fairy Tale Challenge #112)

Happy Friday everyone :-D

It´s time for a new challenge at Fairy Tale Challenge Blog.

Theme for this fortnight is #112 Kraft Paper.

This time our lucky winner will win a Fab Foil for making a metallic shimmer on crafting projects, from our dear sponsor WOW Embossing Powders
http://www.wowembossingpowder.co.uk/

Amanita Box is my project for this challenge.

I decorated a small Kraft cardboard box with a lid I had in my stash for a couple of years.

I cut out rectangles and stripes from red/white polka dot scraps (Crafters Companion Bebunni Christmas Designer Paper Pad). I distressed edges with Tim Holtz´s Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy and glued them on the box and lid with universal glue
Then I made decorations from Kraft paper bag.
I stamped mushrooms from  Paper Smooches 'Forest Whimsy' stamp set on Kraft paper bag, colored them with colored pencils and universal white pencil, fussy cut them and colored edges with black permanent pen. Amanita mushrooms were finished! :-D
I also punched out 12 1" scalloped circles from Kraft paper bag.

I decorated corners of the box and lid with scalloped circles, and sides with Amanitas. I did this in découpage technique, using fine brush and découpage glue and varnish. After drying, I coated whole box and lid (inside and outside) three times with découpage glue and varnish.

After the box and lid were dry, I added transparent thick coat of varnish on Amanitas´s dots to pop them up and to create glossy accents
