Whale You Be Mine? Mini Circle Card (Fairy Tale Challenge #136)

Hi everyone! :o)

Today a new challenge started at Fairy Tale Challenge Blog.

The theme for this fortnight is #136, Valentins Tag / Valentines Day

This time our lucky winner will win this lovely Quilling Kit.

For this challenge I made this Whale You Be Mine? Mini Circle Card. Tiny card for my honey. :o)

For this card, I used my brand new Lawn Fawn 'Whale You Be Mine' Stamp Set. This is my first stamp set from Lawn Fawn. :o)

First I made a background panel. I heat embossed sentiment on a white watercoloring paper and colored the panel in Ink smooshing technique. I used Stabilo markers, plastic pocket bag, sprayer bottle and water. I added some color on plastic pocket bag, sprayed it with water and smooshed color on the panel. I was adding color by color, couple of layers, drying them between.

When I was satisfied with colors and pattern, I glued the panel on a white card base.

Then I stamped whale image on a piece of the thicker watercolor paper. I drew eyelashes on the whale so its a female whale. I did it with superfine permanent black pen. I colored her in watercoloring technique with Distress Ink Hickory Smoke.

After drying, I fussy cut the whale, colored edges with black pen, added 3D dots on the back and placed the whale on the card. I added three enamel stickers and my card was finished. :o)

Chinese New Year Panda Card (Kitty Bee Designs Spotlight)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone :o)

Today it´s my turn to be on the spotlight over at Kitty Bee Designs and I made this Chinese New Year Panda Card.

I used super cute image 'Chinese New Year Panda' from 2013 January Panda Releases . The sentiment are Chinese symbols and say: Live Laugh Love.

Details about my card...

I printed the image on a white cardstock paper. I draw circles around panda's eyes, colored the image with colored pencils, fussy cut the image leaving white border around it and added gloss resin to panda's muzzle and lampion, to add dimension to the image and to create glossy accents.

While the image was drying, I made a panel and a stripe with symbols (sentiment).

For the strip I used Bugaboo Stamps 'Chinese Live Love Laugh Symbols'. I removed circles and translation of symbols, inserted them into a MS Word document and printed on a stripe of watercoloring paper.

Then I made a panel. I colored the panel in Ink smooshing technique. I love this technique!!! :o) I used Stabilo markers, plastic pocket bag, water and bottle sprayer. I added some color on plastic pocket bag, sprayed it with water and smooshed color on the panel. I was adding color by color, couple of layers, drying them between.

When I was satisfied with colors and pattern, I glued the stripe and ink smooshed panel on a white cardstock card base, glued 3-D foams behind the panda image and placed it on the card.

Card dimensions are 100 mm x 132 mm (4" x 5 1/4").

List of supplies:
  • Kitty Bee Designs 'Chinese New Year Panda' from 2013 January Panda Releases

  • white cardstock paper
  • Koh-i-noor Watercolor paper (250 gms)

Christmas Elf Card (Crafty Creations Challenges #301)

http://craftycreationschallenges.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone :o)

I'm a bit late with posting this one...

Yesterday a new challenge started at Crafty Creations Challenges.

Our theme for this fortnight is #301 - Colorful!!! Use 4 or more colors. Make your project colorful. :o)

Our sponsor for this challenge is SLS Lines, with a prize for our lucky winner.

For this challenge I made this Christmas Elf Card, using our sponsor's cute digital image 'Christmas Elf'.

I printed the image on a white watercoloring paper and colored it in watercoloring technique. I used Stabilo pens (markers), fine round brush and water. I learned that from a great video tutorial by Julia Altermann, how to watercolor using inexpensive Stabilo pens.

I didn't like hair color, which I first colored with mixture of yellow and orange color, as well as a bear, which was light brown, so I recolored hair and bear with Distress Inks. Much much better.

Before coloring, I covered dots on Elf's dress with gloss resin because I wanted them white and would surely smear them during coloring.

While I was coloring Elf's dress, I manged to smear bottom part of it. I didn't want to throw away the image because I really liked how I colored other parts of the image, so I printed one more image on the white watercoloring paper and colored bottom part of the image.

Then I printed one more image on design paper, fussy cut all colored pieces, colored edges with black marker and glued (layered) all pieces together.

At the end I glued designer papers and image on a white cardstock card base and covered snowflakes on the ground with gloss resin to create glossy accents.

Card dimensions are 107 mm x 139 mm (4 1/4" x 5 1/2").

List of supplies:
  • SLS Lines 'Christmas Elf' digital stamp
  • Crafters Companion Bebunni Christmas 6" x 6" Designer Paper Pad
  • white cardstock paper
  • white watercoloring paper
  • Stabilo Pens 68
    • Yellow 44
    • Orange 54
    • Pink 26
    • Reds: 48, 19
    • Blue 41
    • Greens:  33, 43
    • Brown 89

Penguin Pair Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Hi everyone :o)

Today it's my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles.

I made CAS (clean and simple), Penguin Pair Card, using super cute Jane's Doodles 'Winter Wishes' stamp set.

I'm very satisfied how I stretched this stamp set. I made non Christmas Card, i.e. Wedding Card, with Christmas/Winter Stamp Set. :o)

I removed scarf from original penguin image on both penguins and added snowman's cylinder hat to one penguin. I did this in masking technique.

My intention was to make this pair all in one piece, but after several failures, I decided to stamp each penguin on it's own.

I stamped images on white watercoloring paper and colored them in watercoloring technique, using Stabilo Markers, water and fine brushes. I learned that from a great video tutorial by Julia Altermann, how to watercolor using inexpensive Stabilo pens.

After drying, I fussy cut images and colored edges with black Stabilo marker.

Because I use very thin watercoloring paper and I needed images to be thicker, I glued them on scraps of white cardstock paper, fussy cut them again and colored edges with black Stabilo marker.

Then I glued enamel stickers onto penguins and created bow for her and tie bow for him. Love this! :o)

When I finished my penguin pair, I stuck. What about card layout? Sentiment? Oh, I was trying this and that, and didn't like any. So I left my penguins waiting couple of days.

After couple of days, I decided not to use any sentiment and to make this card clean and simple.

I scored lines directly onto a card base, using my scoring board and created very simple texture on my card.

I wanted penguins to pop up on the card, so I glued 3-D foam behind penguins and placed them on the card.

At the end I embellished the card with arrow enamel stickers matching colors as penguins's bows.

Card dimensions are 101 mm x 126 mm (4" x 5").

List of supplies:
  • Jane's Doodles 'Winter Wishes' stamp set
  • white cardstock paper
  • white watercoloring paper
  • Create a Smile 'Sending Sunshine' Enamel Stickers
  • Ranger's Archival Ink (Jet Black)
  • Stabilo Pens (markers) 68

    • Light Blue 68/13
    • Black 68/46
  • Sakura Quickie Glue Pinpoint roller
  • 3-D foam self adhesive pads (5 mm x 5 mm x 1 mm)
  • gloss resin super clear
  • acrylic block (102 mm x 102 mm)

Hey Chickie Card (KBD Aloha Friday Challenge #58)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone :o)

My third post today... If you missed first two just scroll down or follow these links, here and here.

Today a new Aloha Friday Challenge starts at Kitty Bee Designs.

New challenge for this fortnight is #58 - Animals.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Bugaboo Digi Stamps, with an awesome prize for our random winner: 7 digital images of winner's choice. :o)
http://www.bugaboostamps.com/

For this challenge I made this Hey Chickie Card, using our sponsor's funny image 'Hey Chickie'.

Image is paper pieced and it has three layers.

First I printed the image on design paper panel and colored it whole with black Stabilo pen (marker). When paper piecing, I always color image or parts that will be hidden (under layers) with black pen. If I make mistake when gluing everything together, that will be hardly visible because of black under layer. :o)

Then I printed two more images on a white watercoloring paper and colored it in watercoloring technique, using Stabilo pens (markers), fine brush and water. I learned that from a great video tutorial by Julia Altermann, how to watercolor using inexpensive Stabilo pens.

After coloring, I fussy cut colored parts, colored edges with black Stabilo pen (marker), glued two pieces together and glued them over the image printed on design paper.

I glued the panel on a white cardstock base, added some gloss resin on the image to create glossy accents and add more dimension to my card and my card was finished. :o)

Card dimensions are 107 mm x 139 mm (4 1/4" x 5 1/2").

List of supplies:
  • Bugaboo Digi 'Hey Chickie'
  • Lili of the Valley 'Pastel Dreams' paper pad
  • white cardstock paoer
  • white watercoloring paper
  • Stabilo Pens (markers) 68
    • Yellow 44
