Hippity Hoppety Card II (KBD Aloha Friday Challenge #140)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Happy Friday! :o)

Today a new Aloha Friday Challenge starts at Kitty Bee Designs.

The challenge for this fortnight is #140 - Easter (bunnies, eggs, religious OK. Doesn't have to be Easter specific but must feature something that "represents" Easter).

Our sponsor for this challenge is The Paper Shelter.

And here is my take on the challenge: Hippity Hoppety Card II. :o)

My card is a CASE of my own card that I made two years ago (find it here). I really liked my card and wanted to recreate it. I copied everything, same layout, same stamps, I just went with different color scheme and skipped embellishing the card. :o)

I used an ADORABLE Kitty Bee Designs 'Easter Egg Bunny' digital image. This is the 6th card I made using this bunny. Find previous five herehereherehere and here. :o)

How I made my card....

I printed one bunny on a white watercolored paper and one on a white cardsock paper. I left images to dry over the night to prevent ink smearing while coloring.

I colored the bunny in watercolor technique using Distress Inks. After drying, I fussy cut the bunny and traced edges with a black marker.

I colored the bunny printed on the cardstock paper with the black marker, fussy cut the bunny, leaving white border around the bunny. Then I glued the watercolored colored bunny over the black one (paper piecing). I did this because the watercolor paper I use is very thin and I needed thicker image.

For a background I used Ester eggs stamps from a Jane's Doodles 'Suzi's Easter' stamp set and dots stamp from a Create a Smile 'Eggstraordinary Egghunt' stamp set. I randomly stamped eggs and dots on ta white watercolor paper panel with Distress Ink Iced Spruce.

For a sentiment I used a sentiment from the Create a Smile stamp set. I heat embossed the sentiment in white on a black cardstock paper and trimmed it to a preferable size.

With all pieces ready, I assembled the card. I glued the panel on a white top folded card base, glued 3-D foam squares on the bunny and the sentiment and glued them on the card. As a finishing touch, I drew white highlights on an egg with a white pigment ink.  :o)

Peeking Panda Bookmark (Kitty Bee Designs Spotlight)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone! :o)

This is my 800th blog post!! :o)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Kitty Bee Designs and I made this Peeking Panda Bookmark. :o)

I made this bookmark for my sweetheart. He loves it. :o)

For my bookmark I used a SUPER CUTE Kitty Bee Designs 'Peek A Boo Panda' digital image. Isn't he ADORABLE!!! :o) This is my second project using this image. You can find first one here. :o)

I also used free Paper, Bamboo, Drawing, Visual Arts, Plant PNG image with transparent background found and available to download for free on kisspng page.

How I made this bookmark...

I had printed panda on a watercolor paper for a while in my stash. Most time when I print digital images I print more then one image, just in case if I mess up or to simply have it by hand for another project.

I stamped tiny circles around panda's eyes and colored his eyes with black fine liners. I colored the panda in watercolor technique using Distress Ink Hickory Smoke, just to add a bit of a shade. After drying, I fussy cut the panda and traced edges with black marker. Then I drew highlights with white pigment ink and left the panda aside.

I made a bookmark layout on my computer in MS Word. I didn't bother to edit image to get only one bookmark, as you can see below.

printed the layout on a white cardstock paper. I fussy cut plain bookmark, leaving thin white border around it. I placed the bookmark in a laminating pouch and fussy cut the pouch slightly wider than the plain bookmark. (Update, April 1st, 2019) At this point I didn't laminate the bookmark. I placed the plain bookmark in the laminating pouch to use it as a cutting guide.

Then I cut out patterned bookmark and left it aside for two hours to let color dry completely to prevent ink smearing in next steps. I ink blended the bookmark with Distress Ink Hickory Smoke, splattered the surface with water and dried the bookmark with a heat tool. I mixed DI Hickory Smoke with a bit of water, splattered the surface and dried it. I repeated the same with DI Black Soot.

When I was satisfied with colors and splatters, I traced edges of the bookmark with the black marker and drew white highlights on bamboos.

Here is a photo of all pieces I used to create this bookmark.

I glued all pieces together, placed the bookmark in a laminating pouch and laminated it. After couple seconds of cooling, the bookmark was finished. :o)

Measurements: 40 mm x 173 mm
