Good Vibes Card III (Jane's Dodles DT August Spotlight)

Hi everyone! :o)

This is my third post today. If you missed previous two, just scroll down or follow direct links here and here. :o)

This weekend I'm sharing my Jane's Doodles spotlight projects that I made in June, July, August and September, but I didn't share them here on my blog yet. Three days ago I shared full list of projects that I'll be sharing (here).

Today I'm sharing four cards, my August spotlights. I'll share them all in separate blog posts, which are scheduled and will go live every hour.

Second card today is this CAS (clean and simple), one layer, Good Vibes Card III. It was my spotlight project for Jane's Doodles on Tuesday, August 11th, 2020.  :o)

My card is a CASE of a card I created this year in June, Good Vibes Card I (here). I already CASEd my card this summer (here) and this is my 3rd card in this Good Vibes series. :o) I went with same design, layout and used same products on all three cards, I just used different image. :o)

To make my card I used stamps from super adorable Jane's Doodles 'Summer Icons' stamp set.

How I made my card ....

I stamped a coconut drink cocktail image and a sentiment directly on a white top folded card base.

I colored a coconut shell with a Distress Ink Walnut Stain, using a paint brush and just a bit of water.

I colored a cocktail umbrella and a straw with Distress Inks and a Wink of Stella Clear Brush. I pressed each ink pad on an acrylic block, picked up colors, one by one, with the Wink of Stella Brush and colored sails in rainbow colors.

As a finishing touch I drew white highlights with a white pigment ink pen and my card was finished. :o)

Super simple, yet so cute, don't you think. :o)

After the Rain Card II (Fairy Tale Challenge #191)

Hello everyone! :o)

It's time for a new challenge over at Fairy Tale Challenge Blog.

Our theme for this fortnight is #191, Aprilwetter / April Weather, raining cats and dogs.

And here is my take on the challenge: After the Rain Card II.

To make my card I used super cute LMM's Forgotten Scraps 'Polka Dot Pals Rayne' digital stamp.

I printed the image on a watercolor paper and left it dry for a day. I colored the image in watercolor technique using Distress Inks.

I partly colored the image during the 9th 30 Day Coloring Challenge by Kathy Racoosin of The Daily Marker.

As I wasn't sure what I want to do with the image, I left the image until inspiration arrives (I was totally in Rainbow colors for a while :o) ).

Couple days ago, I pulled the image out, as it's totally fitting to our challenge, and finished coloring. I decided to go with similar design as on a card I made last year (here), using same image, quotation and font.

I already had a card layout on my computer from my last year's card, I just moved quotation on the bottom of the card. When I liked a new layout, I printed it out on a white cardsotck paper base.

Then I fussy the watercolored image, traced edges with a black marker, glued the image on the card over the uncolored image and my card was finished. :o)

Card dimensions: 89 mm x 120 mm (3 1/2" x 4 3/4")

List of supplies:
  • LMM's Forgotten Scraps 'Polka Dot Pals Rayne' digital stamp
  • 1942 Report Font (Important: Read licences before downloading.)
  • white cardstock paper
  • watercolor paper

Rain or Shine Card (KBD Aloha Friday Challenge #70)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone! :o)

My second post today... If you missed the first one, just scroll down or follow a direct link here.

Today a new Aloha Friday Challenge starts at Kitty Bee Designs.

The challenge for this fortnight is #70 - April Showers bring May Flowers (rain, clouds, umbrellas, puddles, raincoats, etc.).

We have two sponsors for this challenge: Star Stampz and Julia Spiri, so there will be double prizes! :o)

For this challenge I made this Rain or Shine Card, using our sponsor's Star Stampz lovely 'Spring Rain' digital stamp.

Image is paper pieced.

I printed two images, one on a white 160 grams paper and second on a white watercolor paper. First I thought I will color images in watercolor technique, but I changed my mind. I also wanted to see the effect of colored pencils and blending with baby oil on watercolor paper I use.

I colored girl printed on the watercolor paper with colored pencils. Then I blended colors using paper stumps and baby oil. I haven't done this for ages. :o)

If you want to know more about blending colored pencils, check out this great video by Dina Kowal: Colored Pencils Blending Methods.

While the image was drying, I masked bottom part of the image printed on the white paper and blended background with Distress Inks. When I was satisfied with the color, I splattered the panel with water. I removed mask and colored part of the image with colored pencils. I also blended colors with baby oil.

I left drying both images couple of hours, until the oil wasn't dry.

After drying, I fussy cut girl, colored the edges with black marker and glued her over other image. I cut off excess parts of the panel and glued it on a white cardstock card base.

Last was a sentiment. I used sentiment from Jane's Doodles 'Rain or Shine' Stamp Set. First I stamped the sentiment directly on the card with black archival ink and didn't like it at all. I heat embossed same sentiment in white on a scrap of black cardstock paper, cut out a shape I like (inspired by work of Christine Drogt), glued 3-D foams on the back of sentiment banner and glued it on the card.

At the end I embellished my card with some enamel stickers and my card was finished. :o)
