Peeking Panda Bookmark (Kitty Bee Designs Spotlight)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone! :o)

This is my 800th blog post!! :o)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Kitty Bee Designs and I made this Peeking Panda Bookmark. :o)

I made this bookmark for my sweetheart. He loves it. :o)

For my bookmark I used a SUPER CUTE Kitty Bee Designs 'Peek A Boo Panda' digital image. Isn't he ADORABLE!!! :o) This is my second project using this image. You can find first one here. :o)

I also used free Paper, Bamboo, Drawing, Visual Arts, Plant PNG image with transparent background found and available to download for free on kisspng page.

How I made this bookmark...

I had printed panda on a watercolor paper for a while in my stash. Most time when I print digital images I print more then one image, just in case if I mess up or to simply have it by hand for another project.

I stamped tiny circles around panda's eyes and colored his eyes with black fine liners. I colored the panda in watercolor technique using Distress Ink Hickory Smoke, just to add a bit of a shade. After drying, I fussy cut the panda and traced edges with black marker. Then I drew highlights with white pigment ink and left the panda aside.

I made a bookmark layout on my computer in MS Word. I didn't bother to edit image to get only one bookmark, as you can see below.

printed the layout on a white cardstock paper. I fussy cut plain bookmark, leaving thin white border around it. I placed the bookmark in a laminating pouch and fussy cut the pouch slightly wider than the plain bookmark. (Update, April 1st, 2019) At this point I didn't laminate the bookmark. I placed the plain bookmark in the laminating pouch to use it as a cutting guide.

Then I cut out patterned bookmark and left it aside for two hours to let color dry completely to prevent ink smearing in next steps. I ink blended the bookmark with Distress Ink Hickory Smoke, splattered the surface with water and dried the bookmark with a heat tool. I mixed DI Hickory Smoke with a bit of water, splattered the surface and dried it. I repeated the same with DI Black Soot.

When I was satisfied with colors and splatters, I traced edges of the bookmark with the black marker and drew white highlights on bamboos.

Here is a photo of all pieces I used to create this bookmark.

I glued all pieces together, placed the bookmark in a laminating pouch and laminated it. After couple seconds of cooling, the bookmark was finished. :o)

Christmas Candy Elf Card (KBD Aloha Friday Challenge #112)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Happy Friday! :o)

My second post today. If you missed the first one just scroll down or follow a direct link here.

Today a new Aloha Friday Challenge starts at Kitty Bee Designs.

The challenge for this fortnight is #122 - Christmas in July.

We have two sponsors for this challenge: A Day For Daisies and  The Paper Nest Dolls, so there will be double prizes! :o)

And here's my take on the challenge: Christmas Candy Elf Card. :o)

For my card I used a GORGEOUS A Day For Daisies 'Candy Elf C' digital image.

I went with a same layout as on my card I shared in December 2016 (find it here).

How I made my card...

I printed the elf on a watercolor paper and left it aside for a day. I colored the elf in watercolor technique using Distress Inks. After drying, I fussy cut the elf, traced edges with black marker and softened the elf with stylus ball.

I printed another elf directly on a card base. After printing, I folded card base and colored the elf with black marker. Then I glued the colored elf over the "black one". This is kind of paper piecing and adds some dimension to the image. :o)

Next up was a sentiment. I used a font I downloaded from dafontImpact Label Font. Love it!! :o)
Important: Read licences before downloading.

I printed the sentiment on a white cardstock paper, cut it out, colored edges with black marker and got lovely label, as if I had label maker. I glued 3-D foam on the label and placed it on the card.

As a finishing touch I embellished the card with sequins. :o)

Dimensions: 95 mm x 127 mm (3 3/4" x 5")

After the Rain Card II (Fairy Tale Challenge #191)

Hello everyone! :o)

It's time for a new challenge over at Fairy Tale Challenge Blog.

Our theme for this fortnight is #191, Aprilwetter / April Weather, raining cats and dogs.

And here is my take on the challenge: After the Rain Card II.

To make my card I used super cute LMM's Forgotten Scraps 'Polka Dot Pals Rayne' digital stamp.

I printed the image on a watercolor paper and left it dry for a day. I colored the image in watercolor technique using Distress Inks.

I partly colored the image during the 9th 30 Day Coloring Challenge by Kathy Racoosin of The Daily Marker.

As I wasn't sure what I want to do with the image, I left the image until inspiration arrives (I was totally in Rainbow colors for a while :o) ).

Couple days ago, I pulled the image out, as it's totally fitting to our challenge, and finished coloring. I decided to go with similar design as on a card I made last year (here), using same image, quotation and font.

I already had a card layout on my computer from my last year's card, I just moved quotation on the bottom of the card. When I liked a new layout, I printed it out on a white cardsotck paper base.

Then I fussy the watercolored image, traced edges with a black marker, glued the image on the card over the uncolored image and my card was finished. :o)
