Hunny Bee Card (Kitty Bee Designs Spotlight)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone! :o)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Kitty Bee Designs and I made this Hunny Bee Card. :o)

I CASEd my own card that I shared recently here on my blog. I went with same design, layout, background and color scheme, but I used different bee image. You can find my CASEd card here.

For my today's card I used a SUPER CUTE Kitty Bee Designs 'Honey Bee' digital image.

I printed the bumblebee on a thick watercolor paper and left it dry through the night to prevent ink smearing while coloring.

I colored the bumblebee in watercolor technique using Distress Inks. After drying, I fussy cut the bumblebee leaving thin white border around it.

Next up was a background. I heat embossed in white hexagon pattern from Jane's Doodles 'Geometric Patterns' stamp set (which is discontinued) on a thin watercolor paper panel. On my CASEd card I went with watercoloring, but this time I went with ink smooshing technique to color the background. I used Distress Inks Mustard Seed ad Fossilized Amber. I added couple layers of color, drying them between, until I was satisfied.

Lastly, I assembled the card. I glued the background panel on a 2 mm thick foam sheet square and glued it on a top folded 3.5" x 3.5" (89 mm x 89 mm) white card base. I glued 2 mm foam on the bumblebee and glued it on the card. I glued a white cardstock paper panel inside the card to make it thicker and more stable (because front of the card is quite heavy) and my card was finished. :o)

Card dimensions: 89 mm x 89 m(3.5" x 3.5")

Hand Lettering #1: Magnet, Block Letters Style

Happy Friday!!! :o)

Today I'm sharing with you my hand lettering progress and two finished projects that I made for my personal challenge, Celebrating 30 Days of Pisces 2017. This is my second post today. If you missed the first one, just scroll down or follow a direct link here.

I love magnets and I collect them, so I decided to make bunch of them during the challenge. Here is the first one. I quoted Patrick Rothfuss. Very motivational, don't you think. :o)

How I made the magnet...

I cut a 3" x 3" base from a Canson XL Mixed Media Paper.

I hand lettered quotation in block letter handwriting style and drew line frame. I used dip pen nib and black drawing ink. I left it dry for a day, because the ink I used is drying slowly and I didn't want to speed up process with Heat It Tool.

For coloring, I decided to go with ink smooshing and splattering techniques. I pressed Distress Inks Mustard Seed on an acrylic block, mixed it with water and pressed the hand lettered sample directly on it. I dried it with Heat It Tool and repeated the process until I was satisfied with the color. Then I mixed Distress Ink Fossilized Amber with water, added splotches here and there, splattered the sample and dried it.

A friend gave me bunch of magnet sheets last year to make my own magnets. What an awesome gift for a magnet collector!! :o) I cut a magnet square, a bit smaller than the colored sample and glued them together with universal UHU glue, my favorite and most used glue.

Lastly, I pressed the magnet with a 32 cm x 32 cm, 1 cm thick glass plate and left it pressed for an hour. When I glue together two different surfaces, like in this case, paper and magnet, I always press my projects. I even do it to my cards, especially after watercolor, because they always curve a bit.

The glass plate is my working surface. I make most of my projects on it. My father cut it for me couple years ago. It's so handy and super easy to clean. It's heavy enough to use it as a press. Love it! And love glass!! :o) So many love in this post. :o)

Dimensions: 77 mm x 77 mm (3" x 3")
List of supplies:
  • Canson XL Mixed Media Paper, 300 g
  • TOZ Leonhardy black drawing ink
  • dip pen nib (mounted on a paint brush)
  • Tim Holtz's Distress Inks
    • Mustard Seed
    • Fossilized Amber
  • magnet sheet
  • UHU universal glue
  • acrylic block
  • Fiskars High Precision Personal Paper Trimmer
  • bone folder

Whale You Be Mine? Mini Circle Card (Fairy Tale Challenge #136)

Hi everyone! :o)

Today a new challenge started at Fairy Tale Challenge Blog.

The theme for this fortnight is #136, Valentins Tag / Valentines Day

This time our lucky winner will win this lovely Quilling Kit.

For this challenge I made this Whale You Be Mine? Mini Circle Card. Tiny card for my honey. :o)

For this card, I used my brand new Lawn Fawn 'Whale You Be Mine' Stamp Set. This is my first stamp set from Lawn Fawn. :o)

First I made a background panel. I heat embossed sentiment on a white watercoloring paper and colored the panel in Ink smooshing technique. I used Stabilo markers, plastic pocket bag, sprayer bottle and water. I added some color on plastic pocket bag, sprayed it with water and smooshed color on the panel. I was adding color by color, couple of layers, drying them between.

When I was satisfied with colors and pattern, I glued the panel on a white card base.

Then I stamped whale image on a piece of the thicker watercolor paper. I drew eyelashes on the whale so its a female whale. I did it with superfine permanent black pen. I colored her in watercoloring technique with Distress Ink Hickory Smoke.

After drying, I fussy cut the whale, colored edges with black pen, added 3D dots on the back and placed the whale on the card. I added three enamel stickers and my card was finished. :o)

Chinese New Year Panda Card (Kitty Bee Designs Spotlight)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone :o)

Today it´s my turn to be on the spotlight over at Kitty Bee Designs and I made this Chinese New Year Panda Card.

I used super cute image 'Chinese New Year Panda' from 2013 January Panda Releases . The sentiment are Chinese symbols and say: Live Laugh Love.

Details about my card...

I printed the image on a white cardstock paper. I draw circles around panda's eyes, colored the image with colored pencils, fussy cut the image leaving white border around it and added gloss resin to panda's muzzle and lampion, to add dimension to the image and to create glossy accents.

While the image was drying, I made a panel and a stripe with symbols (sentiment).

For the strip I used Bugaboo Stamps 'Chinese Live Love Laugh Symbols'. I removed circles and translation of symbols, inserted them into a MS Word document and printed on a stripe of watercoloring paper.

Then I made a panel. I colored the panel in Ink smooshing technique. I love this technique!!! :o) I used Stabilo markers, plastic pocket bag, water and bottle sprayer. I added some color on plastic pocket bag, sprayed it with water and smooshed color on the panel. I was adding color by color, couple of layers, drying them between.

When I was satisfied with colors and pattern, I glued the stripe and ink smooshed panel on a white cardstock card base, glued 3-D foams behind the panda image and placed it on the card.

Card dimensions are 100 mm x 132 mm (4" x 5 1/4").

List of supplies:
  • Kitty Bee Designs 'Chinese New Year Panda' from 2013 January Panda Releases
  • Bugaboo Stamps 'Chinese Live Love Laugh Symbols'
  • white cardstock paper
  • Koh-i-noor Watercolor paper (250 gms)

Mr. Bitty Halloween Card (Kitty Bee Designs Spotlight)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Happy Halloween :o)

Today it´s my turn to be on the spotlight over at Kitty Bee Designs and I made this Mr. Bitty Halloween Card.

I used an adorable image 'Mr. Bitty'. He is so fun! :o)

Details about my card... so many techniques, so much fun :o) ...

I printed the image twice, one on a white watercoloring paper and second on a cardstock paper.

I colored one image (on the watercoloring paper) in watercoloring technique, using Distress Inks (Dusty Concord and Black Soot), fine paint brush and water. Before I started coloring, I covered Mr. Bitty's eyes, cheeks and fangs with gloss resin, to create glossy accents and to prevent these parts from smearing during the coloring.

After the image was dry, I fussy cut it, colored edges with black pen and glued it over the second image printed on cardstock paper. I did this because I needed my image to be thick and watercoloring paper I use is very thin. I fussy cut image again, leaving white border around it this time.

Then I made a panel.

I cut out a circle on the white cardstock paper panel. I colored the panel by blending Distress Inks (Dusty Concord and Black Soot) with Blending Tool. When I was satisfied with color, I splattered water with my fingers over the panel and dried it.

The Moon is made in ink smooshing technique. I mixed Black Soot Distress Ink with a loot of water to get light grey color, took a piece of the watercoloring paper and smooshed colors on it. I did this in layers, drying them in between. When I was satisfied with the color of the Moon, I glued it behind the colored panel.

I used sentiment from Jane's Doodles 'Winnie Halloween' stamp set and heat embossed it directly on the panel. I wasn't satisfied, because lines were too bold and word 'happy' was unrecognizable. I didn't wan't to threw away whole panel, so I fixed it. I heat embossed same sentiment on a piece of black cardstock paper, fussy cut it and glued over the sentiment I didn't like.

At the end I put all elements together. I glued colored panel on a card base, added 3D dots behind Mr. Bitty and placed him on a card.

Card dimensions are 101 mm x 133 mm (4" x 5 1/4").

List of supplies:
  • Kitty Bee Designs 'Mr. Bitty'
  • Jane's Doodles 'Winnie Halloween' stamp set
  • white cardstock paper

I'd cross an Ocean for You... Card

Hi everyone :o)

Yesterday was a World Card Making Day and I wanted to share a card with you, but due to the weather circumstances and me being very unsatisfied with photos I took, I'm sharing it today.

It's this I'd cross an Ocean for You... Card I made for my boyfriend, as our 9th anniversary will be soon. :o)

My card is a CASE of beautiful card made by Francine Vuillème of 1001 cartesI love everything on that card!

Francine is a very talented and creative, pleasant and friendly Lady from Switzerland. I like her style a lot! Her simple design and stunning coloring blows me away every time she shares a new card.

I already CASEd one Francine's card and you can find it here. Before I CASEd her card, I contacted her and asked if I can CASE her cards. She accepted my request immediately. Thank you Francine!!! :o)

Stop by Francine´s blog, 1001 cartes, and see her amazing work! You can find her also on YouTubeFBPinterest.

And nowhow I made my card...

First I made a background panel on a watercoloring paper in Ink smooshing technique. I used Stabilo markers, plastic pocket bag, sprayer bottle and water. I added some color on plastic pocket bag, sprayed it with water and smooshed color on the panel. I was adding color by color, couple of layers, drying them between. I don't have heat gun, so I use hairdryer for drying wet papers.

When I was satisfied with colors and pattern, I glued the panel on a same size white cardstock paper.

Then I stamped two submarine images from Create a Smile 'Underwater Love' stamp set. One on a piece of the white cardstock paper and one on the watercoloring paper.

Using Stabilo markers, I colored image stamped on the watercoloring paper in watercoloring techniqueI learned that from a great video tutorial by Julia Altermann, how to watercolor using inexpensive Stabilo pens.

I fussy cut image after drying, colored edges with black pen and glued it over image stamped on the white cardstock paper. Then I fussy cut image, leaving white border around it.

Reasons I glued the watercoloring paper on the cardstock paper (both, image and panel) are:

  • watercoloring paper I use is very thin,
  • Stabilo markers give best results when used on the watercoloring paper,
  • I needed thicker panel and image to complete my card.

Like Francine, I used vellum paper for a sentiment. First I teared a stripe of vellum paper and stamped the sentiment using Tsukineko Versa Magic Multi-surface Chalk Ink Cloud White. I left it dry for an hour.

After the stamped sentiment was dry, I assembled all pieces together. I placed the vellum on the panel and glued it behind, added 3-D foams on the backside of the panel and glued it to a white card base. I added 3-D foams behind the submarine, glued it on the card and embellished the card with enamel stickers.

Card dimensions are 139 mm x 107 mm (5 1/2 x 4 1/4").
