Lovin' from my Oven Recipe Notebook (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Hi everyone! :o)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this Lovin' from my Oven Recipe Notebook:o)

To make this notebook I used stamps from four beautiful Jane's Doodles stamp sets'Pumpkin Spice', 'Homemade', 'Read All About It' and 'Bear Hugs'.

With some masking and stamping, as well as some doodling, I created a kitchen scene on a Canson XL Mixed Media Paper panel. I also stamped a sentiment on the panel. Then I colored images in watercolor technique using only one Distress Ink Color: Ground Espresso.

After drying, I drew white highlights and dots, created patterns and highlighted the sentiment and my cover was finished. :o)

I bound a notebook, using white printing paper, covers, sewing thread and needle. I used Coptic Stitch for binding. I learned the particular stitch from a great YouTube tutorial by Sea Lemon: How to Make a Sketchbook/DIY Coptic Stitch Bookbinding Tutorial. Check out her channel, she has awesome bookbinding tutorials. :o)

I love how my recipe notebook turned out. :o)

Drummer Notebook (KBD Aloha Friday Challenge #56)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone :-D

My second post today...

Today a new Aloha Friday Challenge starts at Kitty Bee Designs.

New challenge for this fortnight is #56 - Make Music.

Our sponsor for this challenge are Kenny K, who are giving to our lucky winner some cute digis.

For this challenge I made this Drummer Notebook, using our sponsor's beautiful image Kenny K 'Buggin Drummer' digital stamp.

First I printed the image on a white watercoloring paper. I wanted to get old photo look, so I decided to color the image in watercoloring technique with Distress Ink Vintage Photo. I like the Sepia look I got. :-D

After coloring whole image and background, I continued aging my image. I splattered background with water, then burnt all edges and distressed them after that.

I made notebook covers from corrugated cardboard I had in my stash. Inside, I added grid paper from an old notebook and tied them with thread with covers.

Then I decorated covers. I glued a piece of Kraft paper and colored image on them and decorated notebook with long fasteners and distressed wooden arrow. I also wrapped thread around the arrow. I wanted this notebook to close, so I added piece of thread inside covers, which can be easily wrapped around fasteners. I also covered inside covers with Kraft paper.

Notebook dimensions are 95 mm x 114 mm (3 3/4" x 4 1/2").

List of supplies:

New challenge for this fortnight is #224 - Im Garten / In the Garden.

Our sponsor for this fortnight is Kulricke, with an awesome prize for one lucky winner: 15€ store Voucher

I used beautiful image 'Sweet 'n Sassy' from Little Cottage Cuties Collection, illustrated by Elisabeth Bell for Whimsy Stamps. This one I got stamped on a thick paper from a friend.

I colored the image with colored pencils.

I made notebook covers from Kraft cardboard and glued white papers inside. Kraft cardboard is from an old box I had in my stash.

I distressed covers with Tim Holtz's Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy and sprayed whole surface with water.

After drying, I distressed edges of notebook with scissors, as well as papers I used to decorate notebook and edges around the image. At the end I embellished notebook with wooden flowers and butterfly.

Notebook dimensions are 95 mm x 120 mm (3 3/4" x 4 3/4").
