Hand Lettering #4: Motivation Quote Magnet, Computer Font as an Inspiration and CASEing

Hello everyone!!! :o)

I hope you're enjoying your week. The weather these days makes me very tired, but I manage to play my hand lettering challenge every day, at least for couple minutes. :o) Thank you for your wonderful support on this challenge and comments you leave me daily. I appreciate it a lot.

Today I want to share with you another hand lettered magnet I made.

To make this one, I CASEd a card I made two years ago, Follow your dreams Card. I went with same design and layout, images and colors. Differences... layout shape, coloring medium, font.

How I made the magnet...

I cut a 3" x 3" base from a Canson XL Mixed Media Paper.

I hand lettered quotation in block letter handwriting style. I like a font I used on the card I CASEd, so I tried to hand letter similar font. I used dip pen nib and black drawing ink.

I stamped a tiny snail from Paper Smooches 'Forest Whimsy' stamp set on each side of the base and drew line path / frame line.

I prepared various hand lettered samples during my personal challenge Celebrating 30 Days of Pisces 2017 to color during a 7th 30 Day Coloring Challenge by Kathy Racoosin of The Daily Marker. This one also. I hand lettered it on DAY 6 of my challenge and colored it on a DAY 5 of Kathy's challenge (the day before yesterday). :o)

I colored tiny snails in watercolor technique, using Distress Inks, and left it dry on air.

A friend gave me bunch of magnet sheets last year to make my own magnets. I cut a magnet square, a bit smaller than the colored sample and glued them together with universal UHU glue. I pressed the magnet with a 32 cm x 32 cm, 1 cm thick glass plate and left it pressed for an hour. When I glue together two different surfaces, like in this case, paper and magnet, I always press my projects.

As a finishing touch, I covered snails' houses with transparent varnish to create glossy accents and left them dry couple hours. :o)

Rainbow Paper Plane Card Set

Hi everyone :o)

Today I want to share with you a Rainbow Paper Plane Card Set, containing five CAS (clean and simple) cards and five handmade envelopes, all packed in handmade transparent box. :o)

First I made cards.

I stamped a sentiment and paper plane from Paper Smooches 'Sunny Side Up' stamp set (I think this stamp set is retired) directly on card bases. Then I stamped more planes on various Create a Smile design papers, fussy cut them, colored edges with black marker and glued them over planes stamped on card bases.

Then I drew flying paths with pencil, traced them with fine liner and after drying, I erased pencil marks.

At the end I embellished cards with various Create a Smile stickers.

After I finished cards, I made five envelopes from thick white paper and transparent box from acetate sheet.

Dimensions
Cards: 3 3/4 x 4 7/8" (94 mm x 123 mm)
Envelopes: 4" x 5" (101 mm x 128 mm)

Aquarius Constellation Birthday Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Hi everyone :o)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this Aquarius Constellation Birthday Card.

For this one I used two gorgeous Jane's Doodles stamp sets: 'Rain or Shine' and 'Anemone'.

I heat embossed stars and sentiment on a white cardstock paper and colored whole surface with Blueprint Sketch Distress Color. Love this one! Such a pretty blue shade. :o)

After drying, I drew white lines whit white pen and splattered whole surface with white acrylic paint mixed with water.

I left panel drying on air. After drying, I glued the panel on a  white cardstock card base.
Tip: When drying acrylic paint splatters on air they look prettier than drying with heat tool.

Card dimensions are 146 mm x 98 mm (5 3/4" x 3 7/8").

List of supplies:
  • Jane's Doodles 'Rain or Shine' stamp set
  • Jane's Doodles 'Anemone' stamp set

Rainbow Snail Mail Card Set

Hi everyone :o)

Today I want to share with you a Rainbow Snail Mail Card Set. I made seven CAS (clean and simple), one layer cards and decorated seven bought envelopes to match cards.

First I draw paths and wrote word 'mail' with a pencil, traced all lines with Stabilo fine black pen, left all dry couple of minutes and erased pencil lines.

Then I stamped super cute snail from Paper Smooches 'Forest Whimsy' stamp set directly onto card bases and envelopes. I stamped more snails on white 120 grams paper. From my experience, cardstock paper I use for card bases doesn't give good results when coloring on it with colored pencils, so I went with layering image stamped on paper over image stamped on cardstock.

I colored snails stamped on white paper with colored pencils, fussy cut them out, colored edges with black Stabilo Marker, and glued them over snails stamped on card bases. I also colored snails stamped on envelopes.

At the end I covered all snails, on cards and envelopes, with a gloss resin to create glossy accents.

All cards measure 101 mm x 133 mm (4" x 5 1/4") and envelopes 168 mm x 114 mm (6 5/8" x 4 1/2").

List of supplies:

  • Paper Smooches 'Forest Whimsy' stamp set
  • white cardstock paper
  • white paper (120 grams)
  • white envelopes (these were bought)
  • Ranger's Archival Ink (Jet Black)
  • colored pencil (skin color)
  • Koh-i-noor woodless colored pencils
    • Pyrrole Red 170
    • Reddish Orange 2
    • Chrome Yellow 1
    • Meadow Green 4
    • Cobalt Blue 6
    • Sapphire Blue 7
    • Lavender Violet 8
  • Stabilo Black Pen 88/46, fine 0.4
  • Stabilo Black Marker 68/46
  • gloss resin super clear
  • scoring board
  • trimmer
  • scissors
  • tweezers
  • polymer stamp handle (38 mm x 38 mm)
  • crafting needle

Bee Happy Mini Card

Hi everyone :-D

Today I made this CAS (clen and simple), Bee Happy Mini Card.

This was quick and easy to make card.

I used super cute 'Bee' digital stamp and sentiment (freebies) from Paper Smooches. I already used these freebies before. You can see that card here.

I cut out card base from a white cardstock paper and printed the sentiment on the card base. Card dimensions are 76 mm x 101 mm (3" x 4").

Then I printed 'Bee' on a white cardstock paper, colored it in watercoloring technique using only one color (Tim Holtz´s Distressed Ink Mustard Seed), water and brush. I colored Bee´s sting with black permanent pen. Then I fussy cut bee and added some transparent varnish on eyes, tentacles and wings, to create glossy accents. After drying, I drew flying path, added dimensional foam behind Bee and placed her on the card base.

List of supplies:
