Hi everyone! :o)
Today a new challenge started at Little Miss Muffet Stamps Challenge Blog. It's #150, Anything Goes Challenge.
For this challenge I made this CAS (clean and simple), It's Your Day Card.
For this card I used adorable LMM's Forgotten Scraps 'Polka Dot Pals Uma' digital stamp. I LOVE Polka Dot Pals! There is also an Add-on Faces digital set to add face to these adorable images. I prefer them as they are in original. :o)
'Uma' reminds me so much on my cousin Irena, so I made this card for her. Irena will celebrate her 18th birthday this month... Where did the time go?!?! I remember it was like yesterday when I traveled with my mom and brother to Slovenia, to welcome that adorable creature. :o)
I printed the image twice, one on a white cardstock paper panel and other on a watercolor paper, and left them dry for a while. I always leave printed images dry on air before coloring, to prevent color smearing.
I colored the image printed on watercolor paper in watercolor technique using Distress Inks (I tried to avoid black lines as much as possible), fussy cut it out, colored edges with black marker and softened image with stylus ball on soft working mat. This curves image a bit and it gives a special look to paper pieced images.
This was the first time I colored skin in watercolor technique using Distress Inks. I used Tea Dye and Spun Sugar for cheeks. Until now I used colored pencils for skin coloring. I'm super satisfied with the result!! :o)
Then I worked on the panel. I colored a ground on the panel, dried it with a heat tool, outlined lines of the image with black marker, glued colored image over it, stamped a sentiment, glued 1mm thick foam sheet on the back of it and the panel was finished.
Lastly, I assembled card together. I glued a stripe of patterned paper on a top folded card base and then panel, and my card was finished. :o)
