Raccoon in Love Card (KBD Aloha Friday Challenge #136 Mid Inspiration)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone! :o)

Today I'm sharing a mid-inspiration project for an ongoing Aloha Friday Challenge at Kitty Bee Designs.

The challenge for this fortnight is #136 - Love & Valentines.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Beccy's Place.

And here's my take on the challenge: CAS (clean and simple), Raccoon in Love Card. :o)

For my card I used a SUPER CUTE Kitty Bee Designs 'Heart Strings Raccoon' digital image. Isn't he ADORABLE!!! :o)

How I made my card....

First I made a layout on my computer. Then I printed the raccoon three times: one directly on a  white cardstock paper and two on a watercolor paper (I printed one just in case if I mess something... I did). I left images to dry couple hours.

I prepared the card base first. I folded in half the white cardstock paper and got the card base. Then I colored the raccoon with black marker.

Then I colored the raccoon printed on the watercolor paper in watercolor technique using Stabilo Pens (Markers). As I managed to smear raccoon's muzzle, I colored another muzzle on the image I had printed just in case. :o)

After drying, I fussy cut all pieces, traced edges with black marker, softened pieces on a soft working mat using stylus ball and glued all pieces over the image colored in black on the card base.

For a sentiment I decided to hand letter word love. I didn't like how I connected the sentiment and a string, so I decided to cover that with another heart. I watercolored the heart, fussy cut it, traced edges, softened it and glued it over the part where I connected the sentiment and the string. :o)

As a finishing touch I punched two opposite corners of the card using a rounded corner paper puncher and drew white highlights using white pigment ink. :o)

Hand Lettering #12: Personalized Birthday Magnet, Aquarius

Hello everyone!!! :o)

Today I want to share with you a hand lettered birthday magnet I made for my friend. :o)

Last year, during my personal challenge Celebrating 30 Days of Pisces 2017, I hand lettered various samples, this one also.

I cut 2" diameter circle base from a Canson XL Mixed Media Paper.

I stamped adorable Aquarius from Mama Elephant 'Cosmic Stars' stamp set on circle base, hand lettered word Aquarius in block letter handwriting style and friend's birthdays with Roman numerals.

I did same with the Virgo, for my friend's boyfriend, but I have no idea where I put it. It's not in an unfinished projects pile.

So, my hand lettered Aquarius sample finished in the pile of unfinished projects for almost a year. As my friend's birthday was approaching, it was right time to color it. :o)

I colored the Aquarius in watercolor technique using Distress Inks and left it dry on air.

I cut a circle out of a magnet sheet and glued it on the back of the colored circle. I pressed everything with a 32 cm x 32 cm, 1 cm thick glass plate and left it pressed through the night.

As a finishing touch, I coated Aquarius's outfit with Clear Wink of Stella. :o)

Hand Lettering #11: Personalized Birthday Magnet, Aries

Hi everyone!!! :o)

I hope you're enjoying your weekend. :o)

Today I want to share with you a hand lettered personalized birthday magnet I made for a friend crafter/blogger from Slovenia, Valentina. She is very creative and super friendly. :o)

How I made the magnet...

I cut a 2" diameter circle base from a Canson XL Mixed Media Paper.

I stamped an adorable Aries from Mama Elephant 'Cosmic Stars' stamp set on the circle base and hand lettered word Aries in block letter handwriting style.

I prepared various hand lettered samples during my personal challenge Celebrating 30 Days of Pisces 2017 to color during a 7th 30 Day Coloring Challenge by Kathy Racoosin of The Daily Marker. This one also, but I colored it after Kathy's challenge. I went with same design and lettering style and made samples for entire Zodiac, but I didn't colored them. I still have a lot of unfinished samples from my personal challenge, some I messed up and still didn't write a wrap up post.... Spring brings laziness here on my blog. LOL :o)

Back to the magnet.... I colored the Aries in watercolor technique, using Distress Inks. Then I heat embossed in clear a gorgeous Hero Arts 'Reverse Constellation' background. I watercolored constellations with Distress Ink Mustard Seed and left the circle dry on air.

I cut a circle out of a magnet sheet with large scissors and glued it together with the colored circle using universal UHU glue. I pressed the magnet with a 32 cm x 32 cm, 1 cm thick glass plate and left it pressed for an hour.

As a finishing touch, I coated Aries's horns and hoofs and constellations with Clear Wink of Stella.

Hand Lettering #9: Reader Sepia Card

Hello everyone!!! :o)

I hope you're enjoying your weekend. :o)

Today I want to share with you this hand lettered, monochrome, one layer, Reader Sepia Card.

I hand lettered quotation in block letter handwriting style on a side folded card base. I used dip pen nib and black drawing ink. For the card base I used Canson XL Mixed Media Paper. After couple hours of drying, I stamped a girl reader image from an adorable Jane's Doodles 'Read All About It' stamp set directly on the card base.

I prepared various hand lettered samples during my personal challenge Celebrating 30 Days of Pisces 2017 to color during a 7th 30 Day Coloring Challenge by Kathy Racoosin of The Daily Marker. This one also. I hand lettered it on DAY 19 of my challenge and colored it on a DAY 24 of Kathy's challenge. :o)

I colored the card in watercolor technique using two Distress Inks (DI): Walnut Stain and Ground Espresso.

My first idea was to create colorful card. First I started coloring girl's hair with Walnut Stain and Ground Espresso DI. Right at the moment I was about to finish coloring her hair, I smeared her face with Ground Espresso DI. Aaaaaaaaa!!! I tried to clean it with water, but there was no luck. Ground Espresso DI it's just too dark to be easily removed with water. This was not good for my plan, as I wanted to color her skin with Tea Dye DI, which I normally use for skin coloring. Covering darker color smears and splotches with lighter color doesn't look good to me - it pokes my eyes annoyingly.

I didn't want to throw away the card and decided to go with monochromatic Sepia look, like on a card I made last year: Vintage Warm Wishes Card.

I colored everything with Ground Espresso DI and added here and there Walnut Stain DI in the background. When I was satisfied with the color, I covered the girl with paper towels and splattered the card with Ground Espresso DI mixed with a bit of water. After drying, I shaded the image and shade around the girl with dark brown colored pencil.

As a finishing touch, I highlighted the image and sentiment with a white gel pen.

Hand Lettering #8: Enjoy Mini Card Set, Cursive Style

Hello everyone!!! :o)

My third and last post today... If you missed previous two, just scroll down or follow direct links here and here.

I love mini cards and mini images. Combining both, I made this hand lettered, CAS (clean and simple), one layer, Enjoy Mini Card Set.

I drew a line and wrote word 'enjoy' on two white cardstock paper card bases in cursive handwriting styleI used dip pen nib and black drawing ink.

I prepared various hand lettered samples during my personal challenge Celebrating 30 Days of Pisces 2017 to color during a 7th 30 Day Coloring Challenge by Kathy Racoosin of The Daily Marker. These two also. I hand lettered them on DAY 9 of my challenge and colored it on a DAY 25 of Kathy's challenge. :o)

I had no idea what I want to do with hand lettered samples for days. Tiny image yes, but which one... Same or different image on both cards.... Nothing fit. And then I received an ADORABLE Gerda Steiner Designs 'Hoppiness' stamp set that I won at The Hoppiness Giveaway. I knew immediately I will use super cute birdie on my both cards.

I CASEd my own card, Sing Mini Card II. I went with same design and layout, but with different birds (from different artists), sentiments and colors.

I stamped birds on both card bases and colored them with colored pencils. I trimmed bottoms of both cards, covered birds' beaks and legs with transparent varnish to create glossy accents and left cards dry couple hours. As a finishing touch, I embellished cards with enamel dots.

Cards measurements: 76 mm x 89 mm (3" x 3.5")
List of supplies:
