Pisces Gatefold Card (IC #3)

Hi everyone! :o)

Today I want to share with you this CAS (clean and simple), one layer, Pisces Gatefold Card. :o)

This is a GATEFOLD CARD, an interactive card with a special folding and opening.

I made this Interactive Card (IC) for my Celebrating 30 Days of Pisces 2019 personal challenge. If you want to find out more about it, just follow the link provided. :o)

This is a third type of IC I made for my challenge. I made 15 different types of interactive cards during Pisces period, which was my personal challenge. As I don't have a lot of die-cuts, I used all possible tools I have, combined this and that, planned, sketched... I completed my challenge, achieved my goals and had a lot of fun. I wrote a short review about the challenge here.

How I made this card....

To make this card I used super cute Pisces stamp from Mama Elephant 'Cosmic Stars' and a sentiment from Mama Elephant 'Starry Night' stamp set.

For a card base I used a white cardstock paper cut to 8 3/4" x 5". I scored the paper at 2 1/2" and 6 1/4", as shown at picture below, and folded paper along scored lines.

At this point gate flaps of my card were overlapping. I unfolded the card base, drew lines with a pencil and stamped the Pisces image on each flap, as shown at picture below.

After stamping, I cut along lines drawn with the pencil and along stamped images, as shown on the picture below.

At this point my card base was ready for coloring. I erased pencil marks and traced images' edges with a black marker. I colored Pisces image with TOZ Artist Colored Pencils. I drew white highlights with a white gel pen.

Lastly, I created a belt that will keep card closed. I heat embossed the sentiment in white on a vellum paper and cut it to a desirable size. I wrapped the vellum belt around the card (not too tight), removed it and glued two endings together to form a belt. I placed the belt on the card to keep it closed and my card was finished. :o)

This is my first take on a gateflod card and I LOVE how it turned out. :o)

Valentine Monster Card

Hi everyone! Happy Valentine's Day!! :o)

This is my second post today. If you missed the first one, just scroll down or follow a direct link here.

Today I want to share with you this Valentine Monster Card. :o)

I made this card for my sweetheart.

To make this card I used super adorable 'Monster the One and Only' freebie digital image from Goebie Design. :o)

How I made my card...

I made a layout on my computer and printed the image directly on a Kraft cardstock card base. I left it aside for an hour to let ink dry completely to prevent ink smearing while coloring.

I colored the image with various colored pencils.

Then I colored monster's eyes, teeth and toes and drew white highlights with a white pigment ink.

As a finishing touch, I rounded three corners with a rounded corner paper puncher and my card was finished. :o)

Card measurements: 95 mm x 133 mm (3 3/4" x 5 1/4")

List of supplies :
  • Goebie Design 'Valentine Hippo' digital image (freebie)

Bird singing in Snow Card

Hi everyone! :o)

Today I want to share with you this CAS (clean and simple), one layer, Bird singing in Snow Card. :o)

To make this card I used stamps from a super cute Jane's Doodles 'St. Nick' stamp set. :o)

How I made this card...

I stamped a bird and music notes directly on a top folded Kraft paper card base. I also drew a treble clef with a fine liner. I colored the bird with colored pencils.

When I was satisfied, I masked the bird and splattered an area around the bird with a white tempera color mixed with water and colored snow under the bird with it. After drying, I didn't like it at all. It was weird.

I  masked the bird again and spattered whole front panel. Then I blended whole surface with Distress Ink Picket Fence. Better. :o)

As a finishing touch, I rounded two opposite corners of the card with a rounded paper puncher, drew white highlights and black details with white pigment ink and black fine liner, and my card was finished. :o)

Card measurements: 92 mm x 121 mm (3 5/8" x 4 3/4" )

List of supplies :
  • Jane's Doodles 'St. Nick' stamp set
  • Crafter's Companion Neenah Desert Storm Kraft Coloring Card
  • Ranger Archival Ink, Jet Black

1) Addicted to Stamps and More, Challenge #319 - Clean and Simple
This is my 1st entry to this challenge.

2) As You Like It ChallengeDo you prefer Rubber or Digis?
This is my 1st entry to this challenge.
I use and like them both, rubber and digis, as they both have their own benefits, but like rubber (and clear acetate) stamps just a bit more. This is for a reason I really enjoy having a stamp in my hands and actually stamp. Also, I spend less time creating a layout for my card with physical stamps than with digis, I can stamp wherever I want and I find it way easier to go with masking technique when using rubber stamps (or clear acetate stamps).

3) Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge, November 2018: Anything Goes with optional twist: CAS
This is my 1st entry to this challenge.

4) Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog, Challenge: Let It Snow

Tiger Lilies Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Hi everyone! :o)

On Tuesday, May 15th, was my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this Tiger Lilies Card:o)

This card is a CASE of a card I made for my mom and shared it two weeks ago (find it here). I went with same design, layout and used same stamps, but went with different color scheme and used different techniques and mediums for coloring. :o)

Mom of a lovely young lady, for whom I created this card, loves orange color. I immediately knew I should go with Tiger Lilies. Gorgeous flower! :o)

How I made the card...

For my card I used stamps from two GORGEOUS Jane's Doodles stamp sets: Lily and Mother's Day.

With some masking, I stamped lilies directly on a white top folded card base.

I colored lilies with various coloring mediums. First I blended Distress Ink. I used negative part of masks to protect white background and ink blended lilies. I splattered lilies with water, dried them and repeated the process one more time.

I removed masks, added extra shades on lilies and colored green parts with colored pencils and fine liners. Dimension was missing, so I colored shades using grey colored pencil.

Then I heat embossed in black word ‘Mama’, which is Croatian for mom.

Lastly, I drew brown dots on lilies using fine liner and added some white highlights with white gel pen and the card was finished. :o)

I Love Math Challenge #9

Hello everyone and welcome to a new I Love Math Challenge!

This is the ninth challenge and also a 2nd Birthday of the challenge. :o)

It was like yesterday when the idea was born and I started this journey. The challenge grew since then, all because of you: Math lovers and non lovers, creators who want to explore, try new things and have fun. Thank you all!!

Two super talented Ladies joined me on this journey, Neha and Kaja. Challenge ideas, discussions, inspiration projects, commenting, voting... Their contribution to the challenge is immeasurable. Thank you both! It wouldn't be same without you.

If you're new to my blog and want to find more about the challenge itself and past challenges, you can find it here.

And now our new challenge theme: SPIRAL.

Spiral is a spiral curve, shape, pattern or object.
Source: English Oxford Living Dictionaries (https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/spiral)

Spiral (geometry) a plane curve generated by a point moving around a fixed point while constantly receding from or approaching it.
Source: Dictionary.com (http://www.dictionary.com/browse/spiral)

Find out more about Spirals in Mathematics in an article Encyclopedia Britannica: Spiral.

If you would like to deep in Math world of spirals and find out types of spirals, visit Wolfram Math world: Spirals.

In nature, spirals are all around us: shelves, sunflowers, roses, ferns, succulent plants... galaxies, spiderwebs, fingerprints... and many many more. Follow this link to see some beautiful photos on Google. :o)

A very talented crafter from India is joining us in this challenge. It's Disha Jain of Cradle Of Creaciones.

Disha is a fan of the challenge and player. I like her unique style and elegance she gives to her creations, especially CAS cards. I've invited Disha to join us in this challenge after she won Challenge #6 and because I Love Math Challenge was the first challenge she won. :o) I'm very happy that she accepted my invitation to be a Guest Designer for this challenge. Just wait to see what she created. :o)

Here is what Disha said:
'Maths and craft when combined, make me go crazy over it. One is my favorite subject and another is my hobby and my love. I am really really honored to join this month's I Love Math Challenge as the guest designer, as this is my first ever GD post ever in the crafty world. This is all because of the trust Milka has put in me and that is really precious to me.
The challenge theme was pretty cool: SPIRAL. Now that's the fun part here actually. I had to think a lot to come upto the mark for the GD post and the hopes which were put into my work. I have taken a background sheet with Spirals engraved on it, because it pops up the card and the theme. Also, I have created spiral handmade roses to match the theme. I have quilled the small leaves to complete the roses and also, because,I love quilling and the leaves have small spirals in the making, which is because of the quilling art.
All in all, it was a real fun to make the card and enjoyed being the Guest designer here. Please join the challenge and have creative fun with us.'

And here is Disha's GORGEOUS card. LOVE!!! :o)

Gorgeous, elegant card, amazing CAS design, black&withe with a touch of color, beautiful soft spirals in the background and spiral shaped flowers that she made by herself. AMAZING!!! I LOVE Disha's take on the challenge and her card. Jump over to Disha's blog and find more details about her card. :o)

And now inspiration from the team...

Here is Kaja's take on the challenge.

I nearly fainted when Kaja sent me photo of her card. Super cuteness overload!!! Beautiful design, super sweet scene, adorable image, beautiful colors an coloring, gorgeous spirals in the background... ♥ I love Kaja's card and how she incorporated the challenge theme into her lovely birthday card. Jump over to Kaja's blog and find more details about her card. :o)

Neha is taking a short break and not participating with a project in this challenge.

And here is my take on the challenge: CAS (clean and simple), one layer, You Make Me Smile Card.

For my card I used stamps two Jane's Doodles stamp sets: a snail from 'Garden Friends' (which is btw on SALE) and a sentiment form 'Smile' stamp set. Isn't the snail just adorable and his spiral shell fits perfect to this theme. :o)

I decided to go with one layer card, as I didn't made one for a while.

I stamped the sentiment and the snail directly on a white top folded card base.

I decided to give some love to my colored pencils, which I haven't used for a while, and colored the snail with colored pencils. I shaded the spiral shell with Stabilo Fine Liners (I added some color and smeared it with my fingers; repeated the process until I was satisfied).

As a finishing touch, I coated the spiral shell twice with Clear Wink of Stella. :o)
