Hot Air Balloons Card

Hi everyone! :o)

Today I'm sharing four cards with you, all in separate posts through the day. All my posts are scheduled and will go live every full odd hour, from 3 PM to 9 PM. This is my 4th and last post today. If you missed previous posts, just scroll down or follow direct links herehere and here. :o)

You all know I'm addicted to CAS design. I wanted to step a bit out of my comfort zone and made this mixed media, Hot Air Balloons Card. :o)

I love hot air balloons!! A stamp I used is from super adorable Create a Smile 'Uplifting' stamp set.

I stamped hot air balloons on a watercolor paper panel (I did some masking too) and watercolored them with Distress Inks.

I made masks for all hot air balloons, masked them and heat embossed in clear Devanāgarī Script at a background. Last year, my dear friend Neha from Periwinkle Creations sent me gorgeous Devanāgarī Script stamp. I Love it!! I never used it before. I think it looks amazing as the background on this card. :o)

I watercolored the background with Distress Inks. As it was too bluish, I smeared white acrylic paint here and there.

After drying, I glued the panel on a top folded white card base.

Next up was a sentiment. I used Create a Smile Black Alpha Stickers for word 'Hello' and glued letters directly on the card. A word 'friend' is from Jane's Doodles 'Monster Squad' stamp set. I heat embossed word 'friend' on a black cardstock paper piece, glued 1 mm thick foam tape on the back of it and placed it on the card.

I love adding white highlights to images. I highlighted hot air balloons with white gel pen and uppercase block letters as well.

Lastly, I coated balloons and sand bags with Clear Wink of Stella and my card was finished. :o)

Gratitude, Mixed Media Decoration Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Welcome Autumn!!!

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this Mixed Media Decoration Card, Gratitude. :o)

First I cut a rectangle cardstock base. This is a recycled item. I cut it out from a watercolor paper pad package. I rarely throw away cardstock and try to reuse it for new projects or as a crafting mat. :o)

I used Note Sheet patterned paper as a background, colored it with different mediums and when I was satisfied with the color, I glued it on the cardstock base and rounded corners.

Then I stamped pumpkins and sentiment from Jane's Doodles 'Autumn Blessings' Stamp Set on the card. I did some masking on pumpkins. I colored pumpkins and ground below them with different mediums and added golden highlights with gold pen on pumpkins and around letters. I also drew golden dots all over the card. I'm not a fan of gold color and rarely use it, but it looked so nice in this autumnal color combination. Once I started adding highlights and dots I couldn't stop. :o)

Using stencil and structure paste I made circles. Before adding it on the card, I colored structure paste with different Distress Inks.

I used découpage glue and varnish due crafting process to fix colors and layers.

Mama volim te (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Hi everyone :o)

Today was my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's DoodlesMy project for today is a card I made for my Mom for Mother's Day. She loves violet color and butterflies, so do I. :o) Inspired with mixed media project I made two months ago, I made this card for her.

I used gorgeous Jane's Doodles stamp set, Butterflies. I love this stamp set so much and I use it a lot! :o)

I used Note Sheet patterned paper as a background/panel, colored it with different inks and when I was satisfied with the color, I stamped butterflies on the panel colored them with different mediums and added white highlights with white pen.

Then I masked butterflies, stamped more butterflies with white chalk ink and splattered panel with white acrylic paint. White splatters were pale, so I used white pen to accent them and I drew some extra dots with it. :o)

I used découpage glue and varnish due crafting process to fix colors.

I wrote a sentiment on computer (MS Word, text box tool). It's on Croatian and says: Mom I Love You.

After printing, I cut out sentiment in to three pieces, drew frames with white pen and glued them on the panel. I glued the panel on a white cardstock base, rounded corners and my card was finished.

Hi everyone :o)

On Thursday, March 24th, was my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this Mixed Media Decoration Card, Happiness. :o)

Joie de Vivre Box (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Hi everyone :-D

Today it's my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles.

Joie de Vivre Box is my project for today.

I used gorgeous Jane's Doodles Butterflies stamp set.

I altered a small Kraft hexagon cardboard box with a lid I had in my stash few years.

First I colored the box and lid inside with Tim Holtz's Distress Inks (I mixed Brushed Corduroy and Walnut Stain with water) using paintbrush. Then I distressed all outside edges with TH Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy.

I cut out two hexagons and two rectangle stripes from scraps of Graphic 45 'French Country' Patterns and Solids, distressed edges with TH Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy and glued them on the box and lid with UHU universal glue.

Then I stamped butterflies on the box and lid using TH Distress Ink Walnut Stain and Brown Dye Ink pad. After stamping, I distressed whole surface with TH Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy using blending tool. I dried everything in between with hairdryer. At the end I splattered whole surface with water using my fingers.

When I was satisfied with the look of the surface and color I got, I coated the box and lid, inside and outside, three times with découpage glue and varnish.

After drying (I left it dry for a day), I made small box legs from wooden beads and Long Fasteners, and simply glued them on the bottom of the box.

I also decorated the box and lid with TH Idea-ology Long Fasteners.

List of supplies:
  • Jane's Doodles 'Butterflies' stamp set
  • Kraft cardboard hexagon box with a lid (5 cm x 3.5 cm)
  • Graphic 45 paper collection 'French Country', 6 x 6, Patterns and Solids (scraps)

  • polymer stamp handle (38 mm x 38 mm)
  • Tim Holtz's blending tool
