Plant Birthday Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Hi everyone! :o)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this Plant Birthday Card:o)

To make this card I used stamps from a gorgeous Jane's Doodles 'Plants' stamp set.

How I made this card...

stamped a plant four times on a watercolor paper and stamped the plant and a sentiment on a white cardstock paper panel. I made a plan how will I layer (paper piece) the image and marked pieces with numbers.

I drew lines on a plant pot. Then I colored pieces I needed in watercolor technique using Koh-i-noor aquarell colored pencils. After drying, I colored pieces to be hidden in black with a marker.

fussy cut pieces I needed, traced edges with black marker and softened pieces on a soft working mat using stylus ball (this curls images a bit).

Here is a photo of all pieces I used for paper piecing the plant.

With all pieces ready, I assembled the card. I glued the panel directly on a white top folded card base and glued plant pieces together with a liquid glue. I glued leaves only on the top and left bottom parts unglued.

As a finishing touch, I drew white highlights with a white pigment ink, curled leaves a bit and my card was finished. :o)

CAS Plant Birthday Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Hi everyone! :o)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this CAS Plant Birthday Card.

I made this card for a principal of the school I work at, who's birthday was this weekend.

I used stamps from two beautiful Jane's Doodles stamp sets: 'Plants' and 'CAKE!'. :o)

I stamped a plant image on a watercolor paper and colored the plant in watercolor technique using Distress Ink. After drying, I fussy cut the image leaving white thin border around it.

Then I stamped a sentiment on a white cardstock paper panel (I did some masking on the sentiment), glued the panel on a foam sheet square and glued it on a top folded card base. I also glued another panel inside the card to make it sturdier.

I love dimension on my cards, so I glued foam on the image too and glued it above the sentiment. Lastly, I embellished the card with violet sequins. :o)

Card dimensions: 89 mm x 89 mm (3.5" x 3.5")

List of supplies:
  • Jane's Doodles 'Plants' stamp set

Geometrical Birthday Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Hi everyone! :o)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this Geometrical Birthday Card.

To make this card, I used three beautiful Jane's Doodles stamp sets'Plants', 'Cactus' and 'Geometric Patterns' (stamp set is discontinued from Jane's store).

First I made a background panel/patterned panel. I used a triangle stripe pattern from the 'Geometric Patterns' stamp set, inked the stripe with Distress Ink Iced Spruce and stamped it on a watercolor paper panel couple times to create a pattern. I also used a tiny triangle stamp from the 'Cactus' stamp set to create the pattern. I stamped tiny triangles overlapping larger triangles. I followed the same pattern and got beautiful geometrical background/paper/panel. I trimmed the panel, glued it on a grey cardstock paper panel and glued everything on a top folded white card base.

Next up was an image. I stamped a plant from the 'Plants' stamp set on a thick watercolor paper, colored the plant in watercolor technique using Distress Ink Iced Spruce and Green aquarel colored pencils. After drying, I added extra shades on leaves with Green colored pencils and drew white highlights. I fussy cut the plant, leaving thin white border around her.

I heat embossed in white a sentiment from the 'Plants' set on the grey cardstock paper stripe, glued foam squares on the back of it and placed it on the card.

I glued foam squares on the back of the plant and placed her on the card. I like dimension difference, so I used 1 mm thicker foam squares for the plant than for the sentiment.

As a finishing touch, I embellished the card with light and dark grey enamel dots.

Card dimensions: 92 mm x 122 mm (3 5/8" x 4 13/16")

    Jane's Doodles Spotlight Blog Hop

    Hi everyone!! :o)

Welcome to a Jane's Doodles Spotlight Blog HopToday we are featuring a new stamp set released into the store: 'Plants'. LOVE!!! :o)

I enjoyed so much coloring these beautiful plants and made 4 CAS (clean and simple) Cards. Here is what I made...

First I made this You make the World a Better Place Card.

I stamped a sentiment and a plant on a white cardstock paper panel and colored the plant with black marker. I stamped one more plant on a thick watercolor paper and watercolored her with Distress Inks. After drying, I fussy cut the plant, colored edges with black marker, glued foam scraps on a back of the plant and glued her over the black plant.
I love dimension on my cards, so I glued the panel on a foam sheet square and glued it on a top folded white card base.
As a finishing touch, I added withe highlights to the image and embellished the card with enamel dots.

Second card I made is this Feel Better Card.

I stamped a sentiment directly on a top folded card base. I stamped a plant on the thick watercolor paper and watercolored her with Distress Inks. After drying, I shaded the image with colored pencils.
I fussy cut the plant, leaving thin white border around her, glued foam scraps on the back of the plant and placed her on the card.
As a finishing touch, I added withe highlights to the image and embellished the card with an enamel heart.

Third card I made is this Happy Birthday Graphic Card.

First I made a background panel. I randomly stamped the plant and dots on a thin white watercolor paper with Distress Ink Iced Spruce. I went with 2nd generation stamping, because the color I used is too dark for what I wanted to achieve and I don't have lighter grey. After drying, I glued the panel on a top folded card base.
I stamped the plant on the thick watercolor paper and watercolored her with Distress Inks. After drying, I fussy cut the plant, leaving thin white border around her, and added white highlights and dots on the plant.
I heat embossed in white a sentiment on a grey cardstock paper stripe, glued foam tape on the back of it and placed it on the card.
Lastly, I glued foam scraps on the back of the plant, placed her on card and embellished the card with enamel dots.

Fourth and last card I made for today is this Happy Birthday Card.

On this card I went with same layout as on my third card, but I didn't add anything to a background.
I stamped a plant on the thick watercolor paper and watercolored her with Distress Inks. After drying, I fussy cut the plant, leaving thin white border around her.
I heat embossed in white a sentiment on a black cardstock paper stripe, glued foam tape on the back of it and placed it on the card.
I glued foam scraps on the back of the plant and placed her on card.
As a finishing touch, I added white highlights on a pot and embellished the card with enamel dots.

These would be all my cards for today. At the bottom of this post you can find card measurements and detailed supply lists. Link to this post will be in a right sidebar (Featured Post), until the Blog Hop ends. :o)
