Happy Friday! :o)
Yesterday, August 29th, 2019, was my turn to be on the spotlight over at Kitty Bee Designs and I made this Peeking Panda Green Bookmark. :o)
To make this bookmark I CASEd (copy and share everything) a bookmark I made earlier this year (here). A friend of mine loved the original and she wanted the same one just in green color, which is her favorite color. :o)
How I made this bookmark...
For my bookmark I used a SUPER CUTE Kitty Bee Designs 'Peek A Boo Panda' digital image. Isn't he ADORABLE!!! :o) This is my third project using this image. You can find previous two here and here. :o)
I also used free Paper, Bamboo, Drawing, Visual Arts, Plant PNG image with transparent background found and available to download for free on kisspng page.
How I made this bookmark...
I made a bookmark layout on my computer in MS Word when I made the original (CASEd) bookmark. I didn't bother to edit image to get only one bookmark, as you can see below.
I printed the layout on a white cardstock paper and left it drying through the night.
Next day I fussy cut plain bookmark, leaving thin white border around it. I placed the bookmark in a laminating pouch and fussy cut the pouch slightly wider than the plain bookmark. At this point I didn't laminate the bookmark. I placed the plain bookmark in the laminating pouch to use it as a cutting guide.
Then I cut out patterned bookmark. I ink blended the bookmark with Distress Inks Twisted Citron and Cracked Pistachio, splattered the surface with water and dried the bookmark with a heat tool. I repeated the process. Then I mixed DI Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron with a bit of water, splattered the surface and dried it. I repeated the same with DI Black Soot.
When I was satisfied with colors and splatters, I traced edges of the bookmark with a black marker. I highlighted some black splatters with a black fine liner.
Next up was the panda. I printed the panda on a watercolor paper and left it aside for couple hours to completely dry to prevent ink smearing. I stamped tiny circles around panda's eyes and colored its eyes with black fine liners. I colored the panda in watercolor technique using Distress Ink Hickory Smoke, just to add a bit of a shade. After drying, I fussy cut the panda and traced edges with black marker.
With all pieces ready, I glued them together. Then I drew highlights with a white pigment ink and left it dry for couple minutes. I placed the bookmark in a laminating pouch and laminated it. After couple seconds of cooling, the bookmark was finished. :o)
