Cow Over the Moon Card (Kitty Bee Designs Spotlight)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone! :o)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Kitty Bee Designs and I made this Cow Over the Moon Card.

For my card I used a super fun 'Cow Barely Over the Moon' digital image digital image. So cute and fun!! :o) And there are more cute cow images in the store. :o)

I was inspired with my own card I made last year for KBD, Bat About You Card, and went with same color scheme and similar design. :o)

I made a layout on my computer and printed it on a watercolor paper panel. I left the image dry through the night to prevent ink smearing.

To fill a bit a night sky I was going to create, I stamped couple stars from Jane's Doodles 'Read All About It' stamp set.

I colored everything in a watercolor technique using Distress Inks (DI). First I colored a blue background, covered images with paper towel pieces and splattered the background with DI Blueprint Sketch and with water. When I was satisfied with background I watercolored the cow and after the Moon and Stars.

After drying, I glued the panel on a white top folded card base and my card was finished. I didn't want to add anything else on the card, such as sentiment or embellishments. It's prettier this way. :o) I could go with one layer card, but I wanted to save a bit on a watercolor paper, as my watercolor paper stash decreased enormously. :o)

Card measurements: 95 mm x 127 m(3 3/4" x 5")

I hope you'll like my KBD spotlight card for this month and get inspired. Check out more cute images at the Kitty Bee Designs Etsy StoreKitty Bee Designs Blog and Kitty Bee Designs FB. :o)

Hand Lettering #10: Personalized Birthday Magnet, Gemini

Happy Friday!!! :o)

Today I want to share with you a hand lettered personalized birthday magnet I made for a friend crafter/blogger. She is an amazing person, very creative and supportive. :o)

How I made the magnet...

I cut a 2" diameter circle base from a Canson XL Mixed Media Paper.

I stamped adorable Gemini from Mama Elephant 'Cosmic Stars' stamp set on the circle base, hand lettered word Gemini in block letter handwriting style and friend's birthday date with Roman numerals.

I prepared various hand lettered samples during my personal challenge Celebrating 30 Days of Pisces 2017 to color during a 7th 30 Day Coloring Challenge by Kathy Racoosin of The Daily Marker. This one also. I still have a lot of unfinished samples from my personal challenge and still didn't write a wrap up post... Well, I have the whole time in the world. :o)

I colored the sample in watercolor technique, using Distress Inks.

A friend gave me bunch of magnet sheets last year to make my own magnets. I cut a magnet circle with large scissors and glued it together with the colored circle using universal UHU glue. I pressed the magnet with a 32 cm x 32 cm, 1 cm thick glass plate and left it pressed for an hour.

As a finishing touch, I coated Gemini's outfits with Clear Wink of Stella. Love the shimmer and my friend too!!! :o)

Birthday Balloons Card II (LMMS Inspiration)

Hi everyone! :o)

It's Little Miss Muffet Stamps Inspiration Week and I made this CAS (clean and simple), Birthday Balloons Card II. :o)

I was a bit uninspired and had no idea what to make, so I decided to use again an adorable LMM's Forgotten Scraps 'Celebrate Balloons' rubber stamp, that is now available as digital image. How awesome is that!! I'll surely use digi too in my future projects, as it can be resized. :o)

This card is 6th card I made using the 'Celebrate Balloons' rubber stamp. This is my most used stamp. :o) You can find my previous cards using this stamp here, here, here, here and here. :o)

I went with similar design as on my previous cards using this stamp, so it's kind of a CASE. For a color combination I decided to use same colors as on my last week's LMMS card (find it here): black-grey-yellow-white. Love this color combo!!! :o)

I stamped the image on a thick watercolor paper and colored it in watercolor technique using Distress Inks. I stamped the image one more time on a top folded white card base and colored it with black marker. Then I fussy cut watercolored image, traced edges with black marker, glued foam scraps on each piece of the image and glued them over the black image.

Lastly, I heat embossed in white a sentiment on a black cardstock paper stripe, glued foam scraps on each piece of the sentiment, glued them on card and my card was finished. :o)

Card dimensions: 89 mm x 127 mm (3.5" x 5")

List of supplies:
  • LMM's Forgotten Scraps 'Celebrate Balloons' rubber stamp (now available in digital format)

Welcome Baby Elephant Card (Fairy Tale Challenge #167)

Hi everyone! :o)

Yesterday, a new challenge has started over at Fairy Tale Challenge Blog.

Our theme for this fortnight is... well better to say are, #167, Mother + Daughter, Father + Son, Mother + Son, Father + Daughter. Pick any theme or themes you like, create something as a couple (with your parent or kid) or create something using matching image. :o)

This time our lucky winner will win this adorable clear stamp.

I went with Mother + Son or Father + Son theme and made this Welcome Baby Elephant Card.

First I made a background paper. I used various baby themed stamps and heart stamps and stamped them randomly on a white watercolor paper panel with Distress Ink Iced Spruce.

Next up was an image. I used ADORABLE Elephants image from Paper Smooches 'A Little Lovin' stamp set. I stamped the image on a thick watercolor paper and colored elephants with Distress Inks in watercolor technique. After drying, I fussy cut elephants leaving white border around them.

Lastly, I worked on a sentiment. I stamped the sentiment from the set on the panel in black and shaded letters with grey fine liner.

I love dimension on my cards. I glued 2 mm thick foam square on the back of the panel and glued it on a top folded card base. I also glued foams on the back of elephants and glued them on card.

As a finishing touch I highlighted elephants and the sentiment with white gel pen and embellished the card with blue enamel dots.

Shoot for the Moon Card II (LMMS Challenge #161)

Hi everyone! :o)

It's time for a new challenge at Little Miss Muffet Stamps Challenge Blog. It's #161, Anything Goes Challenge.

For this challenge I made this CAS (clean and simple), one layer, Shoot for the Moon Card II. :o)

For my card I used beautiful LMM's Forgotten Scraps 'Shoot for the Moon Sentiment' digital stamp. I love it!! :o)

This is my second take on this digi. I went with same layout, size and similar design as on my first card I made using this digi. You can find my first card here.

I already had a layout template saved on my computer. I printed it out directly on a card base, for which I used a white cardstock paper. To prevent ink smearing, I left the image dry couple hours.

I mixed a Distress Ink Hickory Smoke with a lot of water and used that for shading. When I was satisfied with shades, I masked the Moon and splattered card front with Distress Ink Hickory Smoke mixed with water. I dried splatters using Heat It Tool. Then I watercolored the Moon. I used Distress Inks Mustard Seed and Fossilized Amber.

Lastly, I glued two black star stickers on the card, which look same as stars on the image, and my card was finished. :o)

I like this "negative" night sky look. I will definitely use this design again using other stars and Moon images I have. :o)

Card dimensions: 95 mm x 127 mm (3 3/4" x 5")

List of supplies:

Geometrical Birthday Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

    Hi everyone! :o)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this Geometrical Birthday Card.

To make this card, I used three beautiful Jane's Doodles stamp sets'Plants', 'Cactus' and 'Geometric Patterns' (stamp set is discontinued from Jane's store).

First I made a background panel/patterned panel. I used a triangle stripe pattern from the 'Geometric Patterns' stamp set, inked the stripe with Distress Ink Iced Spruce and stamped it on a watercolor paper panel couple times to create a pattern. I also used a tiny triangle stamp from the 'Cactus' stamp set to create the pattern. I stamped tiny triangles overlapping larger triangles. I followed the same pattern and got beautiful geometrical background/paper/panel. I trimmed the panel, glued it on a grey cardstock paper panel and glued everything on a top folded white card base.

Next up was an image. I stamped a plant from the 'Plants' stamp set on a thick watercolor paper, colored the plant in watercolor technique using Distress Ink Iced Spruce and Green aquarel colored pencils. After drying, I added extra shades on leaves with Green colored pencils and drew white highlights. I fussy cut the plant, leaving thin white border around her.

I heat embossed in white a sentiment from the 'Plants' set on the grey cardstock paper stripe, glued foam squares on the back of it and placed it on the card.

I glued foam squares on the back of the plant and placed her on the card. I like dimension difference, so I used 1 mm thicker foam squares for the plant than for the sentiment.

As a finishing touch, I embellished the card with light and dark grey enamel dots.

    Card dimensions: 92 mm x 122 mm (3 5/8" x 4 13/16")
    List of supplies:
    • white cardstock paper (card base)
    • dark grey cardstock paper (panel, sentiment)
