It's the little things... Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Hi everyone! :o)

Today was my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this one layer, It's the little things... Card.

To make this card I used two GORGEOUS Jane's Doodles stamp sets: 'Lily' and 'You Got This'. Love them!!! :o)

For a card base I used Canson XL Mixed Media Paper. heat embossed in white lilies directly on the card base, creating lilies frame. I also did some masking, because I didn't want lilies to overlap.

In the top left corner my heat embossing didn't went well and there were some gaps in lines on lilies. I used VersaMark Watermark Pen to fix that. I traced gaps in lines with the pen, sprinkled everything with embossing powder, heat set it... Fixed!! :o)
Tip: When heat embossing in white and your image doesn't have crisp lines and/or has gaps, you don't have watermark pen, Misti or similar product, you don't want to stamp over the image again, you can use white gel pen to fix that. I tried it with Uniball Signo White Gel Pen and it worked perfectly every time. :o)

Then I stamped a sentiment in the center of the card with a black ink. Same as in previous step, there were some gaps on bold letters. I hid all those tiny gaps with black pens (permanent fine liners). This happens on the mixed paper I use. It's textured and sometimes ink just doesn't go where it should. :o)

Next up was coloring. I watercolored the card front with Distress Inks Mustard Seed and Fossilized Amber. I dried the card with Heat It Tool and watercoloring, drying layer between, until I was satisfied with the look. I dried the card and splattered it with same Distress Inks mixed with a bit of water.
Tip: When splattering your projects, you'll get best results on a dry surface. From my experience, splattering with Distress Inks, acrylic paint etc. on a wet project doesn't work.

As a finishing touch, I coated lilies and sentiment with glossy Wink of Stella. Love the shimmer!! :o)
