13 Days of Halloween - Day 10 - Black&White Bats Candle Light Shades

Happy Friday!!! :o

Today I'm bringing DAY 10 of the 13 Days of Halloween series with these B&W Bats Candle Light Shades. :o)

Although it's not common here in Croatia to celebrate Halloween, my honey and I celebrate it each year. I made these candle light shades (and other decorations) to decorate our apartment for Halloween night. I made 13 candle light shades, symbolic, as we started to date in the Halloween night 13 years ago. :o)

I made these kind of candle light shades in the past and shared a tutorial here on my blog (here). I went with same design, just used white paper this year and went with stamping instead of tracing stencils.

How I made these candle light shades...

I cut a white printing paper into rectangles measured 210 mm x 88.9 mm.

I randomly stamped bats from Jane's Doodles 'Haunted House' stamp set in black on each rectangle.

When the ink dried, I glued two shorter sides of rectangles together to form a cylinder shape and my super simple candle light shades were ready to use.

List of supplies:
  • Jane's Doodles 'Haunted House' stamp set
  • white printing paper
  • Ranger Archival Ink (Jet Black)
  • acrylic block (102 mm x 102 mm)
  • double sided self adhesive tape
  • Fiskars High Precision Personal Paper Trimmer
  • scissors

I really like how they look when tea light candles are lightened inside. :o)

Although they look amazing when candles lightened, I never leave these kind of projects unsupervised and never forget about safety when using candles of any kind (inside or outside).

If you decide to make your own and use them, please bare in mind that you are using these at your own risk. I can't and won't be responsible if anything goes wrong. NEVER ever forget about safety when using candles!!!

Safety notice:
  • usage at your own risk
  • for tea light candles only
  • indoor usage only
  • not for children of any age
  • do not leave unsupervised
  • always be in the same room as your lighten tea light candles
  • turn off candles when leaving the room
Safer option would be probably to use these light shades with LED tea light candles. I don't know if they give that dancing light as a regular tea light candles, because I never tried them.
Despite the fact that LED tea light candles are kind of safer than regular ones, I recommend all safety precautions when using them. Sadly, quality of products nowadays, especially electronics, can be very poor, so we must be careful when using them to avoid dangerous and unwanted situations.

Thank you for stopping by and your kind feedback. Enjoy and smile! :o)

  1. Fabulous candle light shades, and congrats to you and your partner for your 13 years together! :D

  2. These look great! I love Halloween! We don't get any trick or treaters where we live now, and that was always fun to have the kids come to the door in their costumes where we used to live. But we're out in the country now and no kids live close by!
