Chameleon Birthday Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Hi everyone!!! :o)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this Chameleon Birthday Card:o)

To make this card I used stamps from two Jane's Doodles stamp sets: a chameleon and flowers from 'Chameleon' and a sentiment from 'Doodle Butterflies'. :o)

How I made my card...

I stamped the chameleon and two flowers on a watercolor paper and colored them with Stabilo Pens (Markers). I used a wet brush paint to spread colors on parts I didn't color with markers and to blend colors.

After drying, I fussy cut images and traced their edges with a black marker.

Then I stamped the sentiment and same images on a white top folded card base. I colored images with a grey marker and glued colored images over the grey ones. As a finishing touch, I've drew white highlights.

At this point I finished my card. Well, that was just for couple hours. More I looked at my card, less I liked it. Something was missing. I decided to add a cloud background. :o)

I masked the chameleon, branch and flowers with post-it paper masks. I ink blended clouds directly on the card base using a mini ink blending tool, a Distress Ink Salty Ocean and a cloud stencil I made by myself (I've described how I made the stencil here). I added more pressure at the top of the card and less towards the bottom.

When I was satisfied with clouds, I removed masks. The result: much much better than with a white background. :o)
