FareWHALE Card

Hello everyone! :o)

Today I want to share with you this FareWHALE Card. :o)

I made this card by a request from my high school classmate. She needed a card for a colleague from work who got another job and was leaving "the gang". She asked for a whale, word play, inside card text (team joke) and specific font color for two letters. I came up with this card. She loved it!! :o)

To make this card I used an adorable whale from Paper Smooches 'Surf and Turf' stamp set.

For the text I used a free font I downloaded from here: Spicy Sushi Roll by Kevin and Amanda. Love it!! :o)
Important: Read licences before downloading.

How I made this card...

I wrote the text for front and inside of the card on my computer and printed both on two white cardstock paper panels. I left an ink to dry over the night.

Next day I ink blended the front panel with Distress Inks and mini ink blending tool. I've splattered the panel with water, dried it and repeated the process. When I was satisfied with the color, I mixed same Distress Inks that I used for blending with a bit of a water and splattered the panel with them. I dried the panel with heat it tool and glued the panel on a white side folded card base.

Then I glued another panel (with the text only) inside the card.

For letters th I used magenta color (RGB: reed 226, green 0, blue 116.

Next up was the whale. I stamped the whale on a watercolor paper and colored him with a Distress Ink Hickory Smoke in watercolor technique. After drying, I fussy cut the whale, traced edges with a black marker and softened him with a stylus ball on a soft working mat. This curled the image a bit, which added a bit of an extra dimension to the image.

Then I stamped another whale on a white cardstock paper scrap, colored him with the black marker, fussy cut the whale leaving thin white border around him, and glued the watercolored whale over him. I did this because the watercolor paper I use is very thin and I needed a thicker image. I always do this. Great fussy cutting practice. LOL :o)

Lastly I glued some foam on the back of the whale, glued him on the card and my card was finished. :o)
