13 Days of Halloween - Day 2 - Jack's Skellington Head Polymer Clay Sculpture

Hi everyone!!! :o)

Today I'm bringing DAY 2 of the 13 Days of Halloween series. For today I made this Jack's Skellington Head polymer clay sculpture.

Jack Skellington is a character and main protagonist of Tim Burton's 1993 film The Nightmare Before Christmas. I am a big fan of Tim Burton's characters and films. :o)

How I made my sculpture...

When I work with a polymer clay, I work on a glass surface plate I have. I find the glass to be best surface to work with the polymer clay. It's also very important to have clean hands, as the polymer clay picks absolutely everything from your hands or working surface.

First I softened a night glow polymer clay with my hands. Polymer clay has to be softened, as it's not possible to work with hardened polymer clay.

Then I made a ball from an aluminium foil and wrapped the polymer clay around it. Using my hands and glass working surface, I shaped the head.

Then I softened a black polymer clay. Using various modeling tools, I shaped eyes and a mouth with the black clay.

When I was finished, I baked the sculpture in an oven following producer's instructions.

After 30 minutes baking, I put the sculpture cooling on air. After cooling, I sanded the sculpture using a fine grit sanding paper and my Jack's Skellington Head sculpture was finished. :o)

I really like how it turned out. :o)

And it glows in the dark. :o)
